Stellantis now owns 1/2 of FCA & other Euro car companies

A guy at my company got an Alpha I said pretty but I remember why Fiat left the US, he said it's not a Fiat, it is a Stellantis.

As I was unaware of this wrinkle I looked into it, seems they bought 1/2 stake in all the Euro companies not Merc, BMW/VW.

Am I wrong?

Not Fiat?

Stellantis N.V. is a multinational automotive manufacturing corporation formed in 2021 on the basis of a 50–50 cross-border merger between the Italian-American conglomerate Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) and the French PSA Group.[11][12][13] The company is headquartered in Amsterdam. In terms of global vehicle sales in 2021, Stellantis was the world's fifth-largest automaker behind Toyota, Volkswagen Group, Hyundai Motor Group, and General Motors.[14]

The primary listings for the company's stock are on Milan's Borsa Italiana and on Euronext Paris.[15] The principal activity of Stellantis is the design, development, manufacture, and sale of automobiles bearing its 16 brands: Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, Citroën, Dodge, DS, Fiat, Fiat Professional, Jeep, Lancia, Maserati, Mopar, Opel, Peugeot, Ram, and Vauxhall. At the time of the merger, Stellantis had approximately 300,000 employees and a presence in more than 130 countries, with manufacturing facilities in 30 countries.[16]

Not sure what you'd define a mess. My Alfa was one of the best vehicles I ever had. And I enjoyed the hell out my dodges. I'd have no issues getting another.

FCA is perennially among the worst vehicles in surveys of reliability.

Every manufacturer makes a few lemons & in the reverse a few trouble-free cars (where they were poor) As an example, Jaguar was largely horrible pre Ford (horrible for other reasons under Ford) and I am sure they sold a few that were fine.

Sorry if I hit a nerve.

You didn’t hit a nerve. I just always find those reports hilarious. Just like Tesla got knocked down the reliability pegs because of recalls, which are largely over their software updates. Dumb shit like that. I have owned several FCA and Stellantis products over the past 10 years (challenger, Durango, Jeep, Alfa Romeo) and they have all been rocksolid.

I am glad you have had no issues, I know dozens of peole with nothing but horror stories, I'm not talking about software updates, I'm talking about 200 mile dead engines, under 5k mile dead transmissions etc.

My last personal Mopar ownership was a '72 RT/SE 440 Challenger in 1979, wish I still had it. My Last Fiat ownership was a 1974 131 wagon got it new, was a nightmare.

It's funny, my point was negativity on Fiat. Funny it turned into a Chrysler thread.

I have no hate for Chrysler, they make super cool vehicles, unfortunately, my experience (through friends & relatives as I'd never buy one) has been god awful.

I am glad they have made some good vehicles that people have enjoyed, that's great!

I think the newer base fiat 500 from a few years ago was pretty good if memory serves. I know the 500 EV was highly underrated. I know several people who had them and loved them as commuters. But I think the middle sized model had a lot of issues. Not sure about the 500X but they still sell that one so I think it’s been pretty solid for what it is.

I know there is a new 500 coming.

Forgot that my BIL's wife had a 500 for a while, also trouble free that I'm aware of. Only got rid of it because they got married & were going to be having kids, she moved up to a loaded Rogue.
