SRT600 Jeep

Don't know if this has been posted before, but I just saw it on a car site and decided to share.

Well as you all might know, Jeep has been at the top of the competition (SUV performance wise) for a couple of years now with its SRT 8 Cherokee. Not satisfied with its high performance, Hennessey has come up with the breath taking Cherokee SRT600!!!! To the SRT8's already formidable 420 hp V-8, Hennessey Performance Engineering adds an even 200 hp as part of the $27,900 SRT600 package.... The stock Jeep SRT8 is already the quickest SUV on the market. It can outrun the Mercedes ML63 AMG and the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S! ....Added the turbo, and it can outrun almost anything on the road. In fact, there's not enough space here to list all the high-performance cars it humiliates, but here's a glimpse: It's quicker than every BMW M product as well as all Mercedes AMGs other than the 604hp SL65.Bye bye, Audi S6, Chevy Corvette, Porsche 911 S, and Lamborghini Gallardo!

Vehicle Type: front engine, 4-wheel drive, 5-passenger, 5-door SUV.

Price as tested: $76,440
Engine Type: turbocharged and intercooled pushrod 16-valve V-8, iron block and aluminum heads, port fuel injection.

Displacement: .......373 cu in, 6118cc
Power:.............. 620 bhp @ 6000 rpm
Torque:.............650 lb-ft @ 4400 rpm
Transmission: 5-speed automatic with manumatic shifting

0-60 mph:........................................ ............3.7 sec
0-100 mph:........................................ ..........9.0 sec
0-150 mph:........................................ ........28.2 sec
Street start, 5-60 mph:.................................4.3 sec
Standing 1/4-mile:...........................12.2 @ 116 mph
Braking, 70-0 mph:.......................................1 71 ft
Roadholding, 300-ft-dia skidpad:...................0.90 g
Fuel economy:........................................ .....8 mpg

Yeah but its Hennessey Performance........John is the biggest crook around. Doesn't everyone know this by now?

So while he does build cool stuff for car mag tests and what not, I wouldn't give him the time of day and neither should anyone else.

I thought Hennessey Performance was out of business.

X5 M would be FTW... and.. only 12.2 @ 116???? nope not impressive enough. Shoulda made it closer to 1000hp so it would run like, 10.5 @ 130 or something (w/ a good launch)... that woulda been better. thx

That is just a remote mount turbo. I've helped a friend build a remote mount setup similar to the STS unit. We built it for 2200 less and we were able to use an intercooler and larger turbo. That LPE JGC600 is overpriced, although it's awesome.

I can just picture the worried look on the faces of owners of every afformentioned sports car: "Holy crap, that Jeep just pulled me from a dig. Well good thing there is a curve in the road up ahead; that POS probably can't handle as well as a Vette, Porsche, Lambo, AMG, etc..." And I thought the SRT10 Ram had the worst MPG @ 9/15; the Jeep is 8!!!!!

This is why Hennesey and his buddy Steve Saleen can only sell cars to ignorant people with too much disposable income.

I'm actually curious how he tunes these things. Isn't the ECU still locked from the factory? For the money, I'd expect to get something better than a ghetto-rigged piggyback.
