IS350.. hands down. I sat in it last night at the Boston Car Show and it was my favorite car there. The 3 Series is ugly and the C-Class looks cheap and is getting an overhaul within the next year so it will look outdated within a year.

Of those 3, I'd still take the 3-series. The IS is too soft and the steering too light. The C is an old platform and needs to be replaced soon.

The 3 is the best driving of the 3 by far.

if/when the IS comes with a stick than it will be a little tougher.

If i was paying myself I would go with the G35

How many more of these?

You can "sit" in a Lexus and look pretty all you want. Once you actually drive them and take the first turn, you'll see which one will give you a bigger grin on your face.

its obv not a joke cause the votes are neck and neck

Well we drove them and the lexus was more lux and gagets whereas the bmw was more sport

they only had is250's which are actually surprisingly quick, but the bmw 325i just feels PERFECT, and i would give up a few gagets and reliability for that.

I just went to the Taste of Lexus at Dodger Stadium this past Saturday! They had the IS350, IS250 rwd, and the IS250 awd. They also had the Bmw 330i. So needless to say I drove all of them! But if I had to choose between the IS350 and the Bmw330i I would definitely go for the IS350. I drove both cars really hard and the IS handled waaaay better. The response on that car just amazed me. The 330i seemed a little sluggish through the turns and the acceleration lagged a little. The acceleration on the IS was amazing! (Maybe because it has 51 more horses). Braking on both cars was about equal. But as far as looks go I would go for the 330i.

seems like u think the other way around....most ppl dont like the looks of the bmw, but says handling of the bmw is better

i went to taste of lexus as well, and definitely thought the 330 was the better "sports" car

"waaaay better"? You are in the extreme minority, even the threads on Club Lexus admit almost universally the BMW out handled the IS by a significant margin. There must be something in the IS's handling you like, which most enthusiasts see as a disadvantage. Bottom line if you really drove them hard the undefeatable VDIM would have spoiled your fun in the IS, so I suggest there is no way you from the both really hard, at least really hard in the way most enthusiasts would define it! Plus the "Taste" folks are quick to smack you on the hand if you "really" pushed the cars!

The cars trade blows and are quite different in the end, truely a personal decision. Non-defeatable VDIM and no manual would be deal breakers for me if I had only one car, both would make HPDEs rather boaring! So if I could have only one car the 330 would be my choice, but the IS wouldn't be kicked outta bed either. The Benz just doesn't trip my trigger, the others are better in everything except badge appeal.

actually, they only said something if someone hit a cone or went too fast in the neutral zone(5-10mph zone).....i pushed those cars HARD but we did get a warnning when my friend knocked over a line of cones doing a turn in the bmw 5series

Well, I think it's important to know who this car is going to be for. If it's for someone that is going to get an auto anyway, then she may be happiest in a IS. If it's for someone who is going to drive the car harder and would like a manual, he should go w/ the 3. I mean, despite Lexus' best efforts, the cars still appeal to different sections of the near-lux demographic, IMHO.

I know those bolded words are gonna get me in trouble and I don't care

Okay maybe I was a little extreme in saying it was waaaay better. Both handled very well. But being a big BMW fan I expected a lot more from the 330i. It just didn't impress me as much as the IS. I was actually expecting the 330i to blow my mind but it was the other way around. And yes the VDIM in the IS did soil some of my fun especially while going into the turns. I guess most people say that the 330i handles better but put 50 more horses into the engine and see if it will handle the same. The people at "taste" didn't really smack anyone’s hand either. They were very lax believe it or not. The only reason they would get upset was if you hit the cones or if you didn't slow down after passing the checkered flag. Other than that they encouraged people to push the cars!

Oh and another thing I forgot to mention was that the 330i was an auto! Maybe that's why it handled/drove the way it did. I'm sure the 6 speed would be more fun to drive!

If I'm 22yo and not paying I would choose the S4 option.
