So The Avalon Needed Less Curb Rash
So as much of you know, I've been trying to convince my fiancee to get a less "boaty" car.
After finding that the Avalon needed about 3k in maintenance/repairs, she finally decided to cut her losses. It served us well, and we had only put 80k on it.
Now onto the new car. She fell in love with the new CR-V after a test drive, but the local dealerships didn't have the color/trim we wanted, so we drove a couple hours away and got a great deal. 2k off MSRP, plus 500 for being a recent graduate, so we basically paid invoice for the car.
It drives great, and the CVT is actually a lot better than expected. we picked it up last week, and we've put 400 miles on it already. I do wish I could have gotten her into the EX-L for leather, dual zone HVAC, and XM, but she's happy, and that's all that matters.

yea, her uncle in Thousand Oaks had a buddy at Galpin, so we decided to go that route. Great experience. The car was already detailed prior to our arrival. Paperwork took minimal time..it was all very painless. The only thing that took some time was getting them to come up on the Avalon.

as far as oil burning issues, I haven't heard of any issues.the only issue we have is a vibration issue when stopped at a light. I guess it's a common issue, but it doesn't bother us. I guess Honda is already looking into a fix.

It was her grandma's car. Her grandma stopped driving, so it was given to us in 2011 with only 14k

Except his wife is Asian, and she's done her share of damage to that poor car

It was a great highway cruiser car.. hell, we got 33mpg on the way to Vegas, but it's just boring.
When my fiancée told me that she wanted to look at the new style Avalons, I damn near lost it
for the price of a new loaded Avalon, I'd spend a little more and get a Lexus GS

Thanks all for the complements. I like it a lot more than I thought I would. It may see it's first road trip at the end of the month. We may go to Disneyland for that 24hour thing they have going on.

crazyasianTL...congrats on the fiancee's new CR-V! I really like the cosmetic refinement they have done of this MY, especially the front treatment! I can't say enough good thing about the choice for the exterior color....If she has as good taste in men as in her car colors, then you are a GREAT man *lol*
So congrats on your CR-V and your 'getting married' part....

It's not that bad...it actually has more pep than the '14, but they did add more torque
it was one of the most reliable cars we've had. All we did up to this point was oil changes, tires, filters, and front brakes. Since it needed everything at once, we jumped on the opportunity to get something while it was still worth something.
My old 89 Yota had 230k.. all I ever did to it was replace tires and the clutch. It was the perfect truck. I wish I still had it.
