Since everyone else bought a Mazda..
I bought one too
I traded in my 2002 TL-S last Tuesday at Stevens Creek Mini in Santa Clara, and to be honest, i was pretty upset leaving my car there. i wasnt even happy about it until i got home three hours later.
Oh man, this car is a blast
I bought it with 42,300 miles and ive already put 800 miles on it
The amount of options this car has is amazing for an economy based car
-adjustable HIDs
-auto headlights
-auto wipers
-navi
-Bose audio
So far, ive just been getting used to a 6mt, i havent driven a stick in almost four years. i tried to teach the gf on Friday, but that was a disaster. Ill have to see if i can get the video from her uncle
Now onto the pics: my 2007 Mazdaspeed3 Grand Touring (pics are cell quality)
About to leave the dealer

As with others I think the '07 has a better smile than '09+. But it is just too small for us.
Congratulations on the new car. Is this your first turbo?

after seeing the troubles my brother went through with his WRX, better be safe than sorry.
but for an extra 15/month at my bank, i got a pretty kick ass warranty until 100k. covers everything: engine, tranny, turbo, navi, ect

Smile or no smile, I don't care.
Congrats on the purchase! I know you've been wanting to get one of these for quite awhile. So happy for you man.
Please join mazdaspeedforums.org! There are just so much information on the platform.
They call your gen GENWON and call my gen GENPU. They all get along well in the forums though since it's basically the same car with same engine.

Looks good.
A used Mazda3 hatchback was my second choice after the Mustang (just acquired). In a lot of ways the Mazda would've been the more practical choice, I think.
With low miles and decent price, they're hard to find around here.
Have fun.

Congrats man. I have always heard great things from my buddy that has one of those. He loves his and with a simple turbo and intercooler upgrade they make crazy power.

Man.. you are going to have so much fun modding this platform. It really responds to the mods very well!
Intake+TBE+IC+Accessport will get you in low 13's with well over 100 mph trap! Also, Koni/Bilstein shocks coupled with Eibach or H&R will give you so much better handling with no ride discomfort!

You just can't NOT mod this car.

car has been great, it was owned by a single mother of two, so it has some scratches and stuff, but for the price, i couldnt pass it up

for now, i just want an intake, BOV, catback (maybe), downpipe, and a turbo timer. maybe a mild drop as well. id like to add the Mazdaspeed rainguards. another MS3 i tried to get had them
pic: too bad they were pricks, this one was an 07 with only 6700 miles
http://www.flickr.com/photos/bryangee87/5655746088/
gunna keep it minimal for now, should be getting a house within the next year so i need to keep on putting money away for that

If you get used to waiting 30sec to 60sec before turning off your engine, you shouldn't need a turbo timer. People over at msf will make fun of you, if you install it.
Anyway, the stock BOV and exhaust should be good enough to handling up to 300whp. People generally focus on getting their intake/tp/dp/ap/ic/meth/cbe done in order. If you plan on getting a downpipe, you must install cobb ap or other engine management system to monitor your afr/kr/fuel pressure/boost/iat/bat. The Mazdaspeed3s are very tempermatic, so if you are planning to mod, I highly recommend you to get a monitoring system.
Good luck
Oh yeah.. it's like mod or not mod. If you start modding this car, you won't be able to stop.......

That is a great car. I loved mine ... Get a CAI/CBE and you'll be +25hp and +32lb-ft doing nothing else. Get the upgraded motor mounts too.
Congrats on the purchase. They are great cars.

Congratulations to you and other new Mazda owners.
I find it funny to read threads like this because I never gave Mazda any thought as a carmaker - they were never on my radar. When I wanted a roadster as my next car, my choices were pretty limited and the Mazda MX-5 was the best value out there. Now that I own a Mazda and I look at the other cars on the road, I realize, Mazda is doing just fine.

Yes. You must change it. The stock mount is complete POS. The upgraded rear motor mount will drastically reduce the wheel hop on hard launches and prevent your engine from hitting the firewall during aggressive gear shifts.
The only downside of having it is that the car vibrates ONLY when the car is idling with AC on. I personally dont mind it so i went with one of the stiffest one. I have CP-E RMM 75 Duro.
There are different brands such as TRZ, Jbarone, and SURE. Its pretty much the same.
I would recommand Jbarone though. Pretty much everyone has Jbarone short shift plate stage2 kit(SSP+aluminum bushing ), you should probably install it too. Lol it reduces about 40% of shift throws and prevent you from missing 3rd gear.
Rmm and ssp are one of the cheapest and easiest things to install.
