Should you take your car for a spin after hand-washing it?
When I wash my car (most notably spray the wheels and brakes with water) the brakes obviously get wet, and if I just let it sit there then next time I drive it the brakes always feel a bit "stuck" the first couple of times you apply them. After you wash your car is a good thing to drive it a little bit to dry off the brakes, or can you just leave it overnight and not worry about rust buildup or anything?

rust builds up normally all the time (like overnight when temps drop or you get back after driving in the rain). The next time you drive, the first time you brake the rust will be removed.

I wouldn't worry about it. I don't think the little bit of moisture on the rotors will make that big of a deal. If you're concerned about it, use a little compressed air if it's available. Whenever I wash a car, I use compressed air to spray into the seams and then spray onto the brake components and into the wheel wells.

Living in a condo I have to wash mine at a car wash place down the street, so I have to drive home afterward, but it does help get that water out you can't get to in the seams. So when I get home I just wipe it down again really quick.

Don't drive the car around the block as you'll just get dirt put on it right after washing it. Your best bet is to move the car back and forward like 10 ft. with the brakes applied in your driveway. I do this and it cleans off the rust...

Your car is fine if you drive it AFTER a wash.
The real worry is if you are running the brakes pretty hot, then stop and spray the rotors with cold water. That will warp the rotors.

I usually take it for a quick drive to spin all the water out of the rotors. Then take a damp cloth and wipe down the wheels.
Otherwise the water drops and pools up on the bottom of the inner lip, and it's almost always rusty water so it's unsightly. I get it done before it dries.

Problem areas when driving around RIGHT after a wash
1) Side mirrors: Water builds in the crevices and splatter all over when you get to high speeds
2) Most multipiece wheels have puddles build in them, which sucks, because if you dont get rid of that puddle and drive off, it'll look like you never washed you car.
3) Trunk gutter
4) Underneath doors: I always open my doors and clean whats left on the side skirt
