Deflating them will make them MUCH lighter.

all I know is ship them using DHL cause it will literally be almost half the price compared to UPS or Fedex. I shipped a set of 17x8s from Pennsylvania to Washington and DHL charged me $55 total and UPS wanted $90 and Fedex $87.

"Thank you very much "

To OP: just make sure the buyer is aware that they will be deflated if you decided to go that route

As a side venture... I sell/ship about 2-3 sets of rims and or tires per week...

I have a commercial account with UPS... it costs me about $10 per...

FYI if I ship them "mounted & balanced" I bubble wrap the face, and use the tire as packaging. (hope that makes sense...)

hmmm thats interesting. the air in one 15" tire would be 0.0638 lbs. that isnt much but still its something and i guess it would add up. but that only comes from all the moisture that is in the air. but i guess i learned something new today.

Honestly, it's more of a hassle for the buyer and not the best business. I used to ship them in boxes and bubble wrapped. Your local supermarket might have big boxes for free.

I never use boxes and have not had any problem. I put a couple layers of cardboard on each side of each tire/wheel and cut it to match the OD of the tire, then I bubble wrap each one individually.

Just a word of advice ...after shipping some rim/tire sets with the tires deflated, I got complaints from some of the buyers about the deflated tires. So I had to follow up by shipping each of them a box of air. Save yourself the trouble and do it right the first time.

leave the air in it. you dont even need to box them up just put a few layers of cardboard on the front/back and tape/tie it up

It's simple. Cut out cardboard disks the size of the outside diameter of the tire for each one. Put the bubble wrap between the cardboard and the wheel, tape around the cardboard/tire with shipping tape and then bring them to DHL and they're weight them and have you fill out a shipping label/receipt. It's that easy.
