Thanks Marco!
This should be pretty straight forward as there's no fabrication needed. SoFlo Motorsports will be installing the kit; not worried at all.

The two biggest pieces are gonna be cooling and solid tune. Are you planning on adding methanol? Will you be running 93 octane or ethanol? A ported cylinder head would be very beneficial to you to increase flow and decrease heat.
I've read a lot of bad things about the "Full Access" Bytetronik not being very full access, I hope your tuner gets enough access to the tuning tables.

I drove a stroker MINI with 270whp, it had a Cusco diff.. applying full throttle mid-corner while in 2nd gear on a right-hand turn was pretty uneventful other than the car pulling like a freight train.

Not worried about cooling; going to run the front mount... we'll throw meth on there if need be.
Bytetronik was part of the kit from the previous car. I'm told the car ran with no issues for 3 years. Owner upgraded to a F56JCW; parted everything from the car... hence the sale of the kit.
My plans are still to run Vipec since the tuner is familiar with it. I'll more than likely post the byte for sale.

OS Giken clutch and diff should fix it right up. Jan has built cars with 300+ wheel horsepower and torque steer was a non-issue. Some dude out of Colorado is going bat shit crazy with a stroker+turbo build, hes using OS Giken stuff. The trans is good for 500hp.

From what I've read and vids that I've seen; I'll be fine with a very supportive wife, low boost, & conservative tuning.
Not my first dance with a boosted car... I don't have an ordinary Mini... this is so going to happen

I wish I had the discretionary fun for forced induction. I have a supportive wife in that she's smart and pretty and awesome and funny and doesn't let me spend oodles of money on car stuff without freaking the fuck out.

Don't get me wrong, the Mrs does freak out when she sees FedEx/UPS boxes lying around with car parts in them.
Wife: "Oh no...no...no... not again!"
Me: "I loooooooooooove yooooooooooooooooou!"

While I enjoy poking the bear from time to time, the bear will eventually bite your head off and poop your remains onto the forest floor. Tread lightly my friend. Tread lightly.

You're probably right, although - I'm a big fan of the stock wheels; it's a part of the car's unique identity... can't see myself getting rid of them.

Change of plans -
Just had a LONG conversation with Jan; he'll be here next month and can tune the car then. Cool ass dude!
With my turbo specs, his recommendation was to pull the blower off and boost no more than 18lbs; it'll make 300 to the wheels safely on the Vipec system, every pull, all day long.
Making those numbers on the twincharger is doable, but run the risk of things going south easier with more components involved... not recommended if I want to keep the car around.
Those numbers to the wheels are alright with me!
He just purchased another R53GP by the way; he now has two of them.

Sounds like the logical thing to do. BTW the car looks awesome! I sooooo love it!!
So there's no way to modify the stock SC to give more boost, either through tuning or pulley? Just curious as to why the turbo's the better way of going.

At that time, guy out of Denver (on Mini forums) used to do "pulley parties"
He used to come out, do a pulley/tune to get some more power out of the cars.
However, 350HP (as OP wants), its all turbo, sir.

I honestly am more excited about a 18 psi turbo on this little monster than the double stack royale w/cheese and extra special sauce.
Marcel...you shall give me a ride when it's done. I'd ask...but I'm actually telling you.

The blower can only churn out so much air before over rev'ing / heating to where it's no longer efficient. Doing the conversion from s/c to turbo will get me the power gain I'm looking for within budget versus spending more on engine parts such new head, pistons, rods, cam, pulley, etc.... running +/- 5k
I'm good at 300 as a daily driver; 350 is a wee bit much for my use.
Consider it done mon ami!

Sounds like a fun project. But I'd miss the SC scream.
I remember test driving an '04 Indi Blue S that had some work done to it, a little over the top as the SC whine was quite noticeable at cruise around 70mph, but it screamed at WOT.

Jan is a super stand up dude. Glad you got in contact with him.
Did Jan end up getting that GP with the blown motor? Colin tipped me off on it too, but I don't have the coin/time to move all my parts to another chassis.

He mentioned the motor was toast, but planned on rebuilding and possibly reselling since he already has one.
You should totally hop on it!
Spoke for quite a bit; very knowledgeable dude. Kudos to him and all the innovation RMW has provided to the Mini community. Only downside to it all is that he is basically a one man band and primary projects prevent him from wrapping up side projects such as the RMW turbo or Rotrex kits... Either way, they'll both be awesome products once completed.
Look forward to meeting him next month and getting this kit tuned.
