Say hello to my GTi
Hello Azine!
Had the new car itch and decided to trade the Accord for a VW GTi. Got a great deal on a 2015 4-Door SE with DSG and lighting package. Autobahn and Performance Package was a little out of the price range but I'm very satisfied with the SE. Real leather, huge sunroof, Fender audio system and of course a gem of an engine! Put on about 2000 miles on it and could not be happier! For under $29K I couldn't think of a better hatch, in my opinion, to burn up the roads. The DSG is super quick, the little 2.0T pulls hard, steering is tight, fit and finish is solid and to me the car looks great!
Just got the cart tinted and bought the Monster rubber mats to keep it clean.
APR tune will be coming shortly
More pictures to come, need to borrow Tyler and his camera for a photoshoot with his TL

Drop by anytime and I'll have the camera ready! The dookie TL won't be making an appearance though
Congrats to you and V on the acquisition! Thanks for letting me take it out for a bit

If I have to get a real job
and start commuting, the GTI is on my list of daily drivers. Love the color/package you went with. All that for under $30k is awesome!

Thanks guys! The car was kind of a bitch to locate, had to go out of state to get it. Surrounding dealers kept giving me the run around telling me it's a rare combo or it was hard to find a 2015 and they'd need to wait until the 2016's arrive. I was hesitant to by a VW but after driving it I was hooked! I'll be keeping the car for a long time so with proper maintenance and upkeep I think I'll be ok.
I just CANNOT wait to get the APR stage 1 tune! It pushes out over 300whp and 360torque on 93 octane. I'll be replacing tires and brake pads every year
Couple of things that bug me about the car....interior plastic attracts dust like crazy! And most cleaners leave it streaky or hazy looking so I need to find a good cleaner. The bucket seats are amazing but the high thigh support (not sure if that's what you call it) makes getting in and out of the car a pain and you are rubbing all over the leather getting in and out. Not sure how that's going to hold up over time.

I wouldn't worry too much about maintenance, mom has a 2013 (think it is 2013, the most recent style) Passat TDI with over a 150K on it and no real problems. It drinks the diesel additive but other than that, pretty solid.

I understood the post, I replied seriously as in like yeah I'm agreeing with you about the power. Now, about calling BS on me keeping the car for a long time, my wife will end up with the GTi and I can splurge on that 135i I've always wanted!
The APR Stage 1 tune (just the tune, no other mods?) takes the GTi from 210 hp and 258 lb-ft torque to 300whp and 360 lb-ft torque?
Okay I just looked it up and that's impressive! How's the traction through the front wheels at that point?

Nice ride!

So I'm assuming the APR tune increases the boost substantially right? Any actual figures on how much PSI it makes the turbo push out? Any ill effects on the longevity of the engine reported by anyone?
he APR Stage I ECU Upgrade gives you higher peak numbers of 255 HP/289 FT-LBS of torque on 93 (R+M)/2 octane without any hardware modifications and up to 269 HP/295 FT-LBS of torque simply by adding the APR Intake System. APR's Stage II ECU Upgrade takes advantage of the free flowing APR Exhaust System and provides additional torque an power at no charge to existing APR Stage I customers. Expect higher peak numbers of 273 HP/300 FT-LBS of torque with as much as 71 HP and 87 FT-LBS of torque through the power band!

LOL that doesn't count. YOU won't be keeping the car. I expect this exchange to occur in two to three years.
It's too bad that as soon as you change the tune on this car, you'll void your warranty. I dunno how true it is, as I've never owned any german vehicle, however, I've been told that as soon as you bring the car in to a VW dealership, they plug into the ECU and some sort message comes up to say the ECU has been tampered with... and it goes straight to VW HQ, so if you try claiming warranty on anything engine/power train related, they'll tell you to pound sand.
Is it true? I dunno. However, I believe that if you buy the chip straight from APR, they will warranty your engine if anything happens. Not sure how much of a hassle that would be, or what hoops you'd have to jump through to get it done. If that is the case, I guess APR really stands behind their product.
I must admit though, that interior is VERY nice. Everything is where it should be and the materials are nice too.
Wait. Edit: I think it was Stasis who had such a warranty. Last I heard they were no longer in business, but I dunno...
