RSX-S

What do you all think about the RSX-S??

Is it going to live up to the Integras of past?

Will it compare to the Sentra SE-R or Focus SVT?

Do you think it will compare with the Type-R?

The focus svt 0-60 is listed by motortrend at 7.2... do you think the rsx will beat that?

i think the RSX-S is gonna give the SE-R a good run for the money. the RES-S looks heavier then the SE-R considering that the SE-R will come with 170hp the the SE-R V comes with 180 hp....

2002 Nissan Sentra SE-R:
For sale in fall 2001 in SE-R and SE-R Spec V models, these potent Sentra models push the moniker into higher-performance than ever before. An all-new 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine powers the SE-R, with 170 horsepower, while the SE-R Spec V cranks out 180 horses. A sport-tuned suspension, strut tower brace, and 16-inch wheels enhance the SE-R's handling, while the Spec V model goes further with tauter suspension tuning and 17-inch wheels. A 280-watt, nine-speaker Rockford Fosgate audio system will be offered.

2002 Acura RSX:
The RSX will debut mid-2001 based on the Civic platform, replacing the current Integra finally after a long eight-year production cycle. Like the Civic, the RSX has the MacPherson struts, rather than double-wishbones found on the Integra. Beyond advancement in refinement and torsional rigidity, the real excitement with the RSX is the top 2.0-liter i-VTEC DOHC engine touting 200 horsepower matched with a six-speed transmission in the Type S model. Base RSX models will feature a 160-horse engine, distancing the three-door hatches from the less powerful Civic.

2002 Ford SVT Focus:
Ford's latest iteration of the trendy Focus sports a powered-up version of the DOHC, 16-valve Zetec engine capable of producing 170 horsepower and 145 lb-ft of torque (up from the 2.0-liter/130-hp engine in the Focus ZX3). Modifications incude a dual-stage intake manifold, variable cam timing on the intake camshaft, and an under-body catalyst system. Additional features include four-wheel disc brakes with ABS, special suspension tuning, 17-inch wheels and tires, air conditioning, AM/FM/CD sound system, remote keyless entry, and passive anti-theft system. While pricing has not been finalized, Ford has suggested the base price will be around $18,000.

I love the instrument cluster. I'm sure we'll see plenty of these things within a few years, if the pricing's right. I'll have to drive one for the hell of it next time I'm in for service...

The Nissan and RSX are still your best bet, even if the Focus is quicker or easily modded...it is still UAW built trash...

I remember reading 6.7 in the 0-60 test. That might be a bit optimistic. The RSX Type S weighs more than it should, IMHO. I think it weighs nearly 2800lbs. Too bad they couldn't have kept it down to even just 2600lbs. The thing would really fly then. Plus, you have to keep in mind that with a relative lack of torque, getting that 6.7 number is going to be pretty difficult.

I think Acura should get rid of the RSX/Integra line all together. Until they do so they will never gain luxury name recognition like Lexus. I have no problem with the RSX itself, just that it is a little too boy-racer for the Acura badge.

Also, why did we all automatically assume the replacement for the Integra would be a 4 cylinder? Acura could have really suprised some people if they put a small 6 in there, maybe like the 2.5 from the old Acuras. Just a thought.

That would be too cool. Only one problem: The 2.5 V6 (C25A1) only made 151 horsepower.
The later 2.7 (C27A1) only made 10 more than that. But it's still a great engine.

It's personal preference, I guess. The RSX is definitely better looking than a WRX, I wouldn't even think of getting that ugly car, even with 300HP. The RSX for 25K? I'd prefer to throw in another $1,000 and get a CL-P, which should be able to be found for a little over 26K. I'd even prefer a V6 Accord coupe which can be had for about 23K.

It's gonna sell for sure, lots of little kids are gonna want to throw stickers all over them and badge them as Type-Rs, but I just don't think that car's worth that much. And as far as looking better than the CL, I'm gonna have to wait till I see it in person. It looks weird in the pics I've seen.

i think it has more SOUL than the cl. face it, our cars are not the hottest lookin things, this is a new radical design and it will look good.

Yes, the price does bring up some issues. Why pay 25+ for an RSXS when you can get a CL or CLS for 26-29?

Leads me to believe the next CL will be significantly more expensive, so they will have to do some major upgrading to increase demand. I mean really, Acura is going to have three of its cars in the exact same price range. Furthermore, I think this price for the RSX is going to alienate many potential buyers. Kids just getting out of school etc. probably can't drop 26K on a compact car and older people with enough money to spend are doubtfully going to want the smaller RSX over the CL or TL. Hmmm.

And, in terms of styling, the RSX looks an awful lot like the Mercury Cougar (and a host of other cars). Radical?---No.
