Returning A New Car?

Can you return a new car. I bought a truck last night, Colorado, and during all the talks, the computer models for payments made it seem like the financing was included, then....when we got to financing, its like another couple thousand. Any chance I can go back to the seller and say they tricked me?

Varies from state to state; however, I believe some states have a "3 day" timeframe to return the vehicle. Understand that the dealer is going to tell you anything and everything to not allow this to happen - in their mind, they sold the car to you and you agreed by signing all the relevant paperwork.

Therefore, my advice to you is research your specific state and see if they have a "buyer's remorse" law/statute on the books. If so, read and print off all relevant documents and then call the dealer. If your state does not have such a law, I think you're hosed.

Some Dealers have a bring back window, they aren't required by law to take a car back, you will have to find out what their policy is. If they won't take it back maybe you can get it refinanced after a few months.

So you want to return the truck because you didn't like the price? Why did you sign the paperwork in the first place?

Anyway, I'd definitely return it and buy something else, other than a Chevy

Wow. How did this happen? Check the policy with the dealership, hopefully they can take it back. The other option is to try and get another financer at a cheaper rate. Then, you can payoff the current loan and get a better rate with someone else. But seriously, don't sign anything next time until you review everything thoroughly.

you might be able to do the return if the dealer didn't send in the paperwork to the state of illinois for title and all the documentation stating its your car.... something similar happened to us, we bought a chevy avalanche in august 25, 2001, and after sep 11 all intrest rates fell to 0% we got ours at 8% (yea back in the day that was normal) and we went in asking if there was a way to give the truck back and buy another (or even the same one) while getting the 0%.... no... after a few reasons they stated that when paperwork was processed in illinois the truck was now a 1 owner and deemed used....

That's my question as well. When they did the computer models for payments, I would think all the financing would be done then. When I bought my car, I basically refused to sign anything until they told me exactly what my monthly car payment would be and the number of payments.

I would at least call them and see if they are willing to help you.

After you sign the P&S and all the finance paperwork, they can pretty much tell you to fuck yourself if you want to I believe.
