Restoring a Legend
The Legend is loking great! It is really making me miss mine and I am really thinking about looking for another. I had the exact same car, but in silver. I loved the 6 speed and the Type 2 engine had some pretty decent power with a few mods. Sold it back in 2001 and have regretted it ever since. I have now updated to a 2G RL, but that Legend was still one of my favorite cars. Good luck and I can't wait to see all of the updates!
Nice,
Few recommendations:
get the OEM front lower grill installed.
Either remove or replace the rear emblem
Install fender well, it makes the car looks cheap when you can see through the fender.
Need new windshield wiper arms.

Problem is that its impossible to find parts for these things. I'm still actively looking though!
Since you are planning to keep the car forever, it makes sense to just buy them new.
Acura no longer makes the parts, unfortunately. Gotta score them from salvage yards, but they rarely have the coupes.
Def new emblem
You have no idea how much I miss that car. I actually saw it driving around about a year ago...new owner is treating it like absolute crap. You still rocking the NGM?
Yeah same here I miss the TL, I parted it out and gave it to my brother for school. I actually have a Camry now.
Hey all, thanks for bumping this thread up. The car has been an awesome daily driver, she sees about 30 miles a day and never misses a beat. Have not done too much to her recently, although I did get new badges for the rear.

Very nice, HockeyMan0920! The Legend you've restored is from back in the ancient past when Honda/Acura was at the very top of it's game. I remember lusting for one of those Legend coupes back in the day.
Although I'm again an Acura owner right now, it's very sad to see what's happened to the brand since the mid 1990's.

Beautiful work! I always loved the Legend Coupe. Was close to buying one way back, but ended up with an Accord Coupe only because I wanted something newer. Looks great!
So I have one of those Kia's with a black roof... but I just felt like pointing out that it's not painted. The black roof is all glass. It's a dual panoramic sunroon/moonroof.

Wow.. Can't believe I still have an account here.. Hockeyman.. Awesome restore job man. Found this thread via a google search since I am looking to redo my car since moving to Georgia and now I have a garage. The harsh winters in NYC certainly took a toll on my rear fenders etc.
Where did you obtain all your trim pieces ? Junk yard or dealership ? I want to replace all the chrome and weather stripping pieces on my car since they look dull and are brittle.
Good work again man..

Quick update for everyone. Right now, the next thing on the agenda is completely rebuilding all 4 corners of the suspension. ALL control arms, ALL ball joints, end-links, tie rods, etc...Parts are here just trying to find the time to install. Debating on getting a set of coilovers as well to make the wheel gap even all around. After that gets done, interior will be touched up. Tan carpet/panels will be dyed black (seats already done obviously). Audio after that since a couple speakers are out.
Those JDM headlights are gonna look great on there, Blake! Would have loved to see your car during my Dallas trip a couple of weeks ago. Definitely going to set up some time to see it/you during my next visit there. Keep up the great work with the restoration.
