In response to "G35 Garbage"...a lil story u may find amusing
So a friend of mine, who is a female, finally gets her G35 COUPE customized to her preferences after two excruciating months of waiting and anticipation. She happily brings the car home and cannot take her eyes off of it....i guess she fell in love with the car....The very next day (not even a full 2days old), she decides to take it for a spin....As she is comming home on the freeway, a car cuts her off quite closely and she instantaneously slammed on the brakes to avoid hittin the other guy in the rear....All of a sudden, after slamming the brakes, the steering wheel LOCKS and cannot be turned from side to side.....(infinity safety measure?? lol) normally, on a highway, thats still tolerable, BUT ahead, the road was beginning to curve to the right....Finally, becasue the steering wheel locked, she slammed right into the CENTER DIVIDER, flipped the car over to the opposite side of the freeway, then landed upright. The on the other side of the freeway, the car skidded BACK to the center divider, slammed into it again, and finally stopped upsidedown.....In the end, HER CAR WAS TOTALED and becasue she bought the state minimimun insurance premium, they wont cover the full cost of the car (her dad is cheap).....
The moral of the story is: THINK TWICE B4 u go NISSAN!!!

How about we trash Honda for one person's tranny dying at 70mph on the freeway, nearly killing him/her. Wouldnt make much sense would it?... and to think there are HUNDREDS of ticking trannys in our cars.
The Moral of the story is.....To judge an entire company cos of ONE car is really idiotic.

Here's why i think this post is an oxymoron. Her dad couldnt have been cheap to have bought the G35 CASH! How do i know he paid for it in full? Because in CA...you would NOT be able to NOT have full coverage if you have a lien holder on the car. So in order for her NOT to have full coverage...her dad must of paid the car in full. But if he's that rich...then why not get insurance? The whole point of getting high premium insurance is to PROTECT your equity!

Full coverage, only way to go
Not to take away from the post but can someone answer this real quick? Speaking of ticking trannies, when did Acura supposedly fix the tranny issue? My 1st tranny went out in 1/02...did I get the same trans or one that is "fixed?"

Some other G35 drivers have reported similar stories. Check out the post by G35Woman (about 18 posts down):
http://www.6mt.net/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=376
Very scary that we're hearing reports of things locking (brakes and steering) when the engine stalls out.

Yeah, all Nissan's are pieces of shit.:ghey:
Great story, glad you took the time & energy to post that here. We're all very impressed at your ability to generalize.
:thumbsdn:
Here's an idea...
How about you post some info for your friend on how to properly insure her car in the future... Maybe then you'll actually be helping someone out.

I thought the main reason we have ABS on cars now is so we are able to steer and make the car go where we want it while we are hard braking... Brembos has ABS still, rite?
Why would nissan do this.. is there any other proof that this is true?

Time to POWER UP!!
When you buy a new car you can only choose the deductable for your full coverage insurance. The insurance company will only pay book value for the car if its totaled. "You" will be responsible for the rest.
The insurance that covers the difference is called GAP insurance. It covers the diff between what the car is worth and what is owed. If you dont have it.. You better look into it.
Peace.

Right, and this becomes particularly important when a high dealer mark-up has been paid

Aside from these 'stories'...
Have you, personally, ever owned a Nissan product before? You seem to feel very strongly that they are a 'joke' for some reason. What experience do you have that would lead you to this opinion? Please share.
Every Nissan I've ever owned built in Japan was problem-free & ran like a top(3 Maximas, 2 240's & 86 300zx). Considering both model G35's & the 350Z are made in Japan, I can't see how they'd be any different. And I don't recall a huge frenzy over their tranny's blowing up either...
There are alot of guys here who don't necessarily like the styling of the newer Nissan's, but most will agree they produce a strong product.

Some people just feel insecure about their purchase and feel the need to pointlessly trash others.
Childish ignorance.

I like how Nissan owners keep saying people are bashing their cars. Maybe some are, but not all of us are.. 1 person doesn't make all of the Acura-cl people haters.
If the G35s have real problems with the steering locking up when the car stalls or whatever then thats a serious safety issue.
I'm not a Nissan hater or an Acura lover, but I would be put off on buying a car after reading 3 separate stories about steering locking up on the vehicle, and Infiniti dealers saying "The computer doesn't report any malfunction"!
This is more serious than the Acura transmission problem because it could and probably already has hurt quite a few people (where as a majority of the transmission issues in the Acuras has not resulted in accidents), and if it effects a large number of the G35s then hopefully Nissan will be able to figure it out and fix the problem soon.
Again, just so Nissan/Infinity owners don't think I'm hating ... I have nothing against the G35 or the 350Z or Nissan, I just think the problem sounds serious and that if its a real problem effecting a lot of cars I hope Nissan steps up and recalls the cars.

LiQiCe,
I have no problem with informative posts. I have a problem with all the 'WAHOO Nissan has another problem!!" posters that seem to get off on other car manufacturer's problems. In any case, you shouldn't throw stones when you live in a glass house (ref. CL tranny issue)

Talking about buying a new car by paying cash and then not buying full coverage........it's reasonable for some people, remember, just to some very careful and safe drivers. Think about it, there are someone who has driven for ten twenty years without getting involved into any kind of accident, so it is very possible that it's wasting lots of money on full coverage that they would never need. It feels like throwing money into trashcan. Of course, no one could guarantee that accident will never happens to him or her, therefore, they have to take the risk that they need to pay for the repair themselves when accident ACTUALLY happens to them. If the car is about $10k-$35k, it's worth of taking this chance of saving money every year, just pay for the liability. The biggest cost in an accident is not the car itself, is if someone sue you and you have a business, it will drag your business into the compensation(when someone gets seriously injured or dies in the accident, but it doesn't happen often). To your female friend, all I could say is that she is really unlucky. I am not saying doing this is good, well you know, people have different thoughts and different methods of saving money. You think buying full coverage is smart, someone might think it's stupid. Racers gotta buy full coverage because the chance of them getting into accident is relatively higher......
To the lockup issue, I don't know.......I don't worry at all, there is no car in the world that is absolutely 100% safe anyways.

Some of you guys are so stupid.....
I believe that story just about as much as I believe the countless number of idiotic Audi drivers that swear they were STANDING on the brake pedal when their Audi went through the garage door.
Point is that people are quick to blame mechanical error in place of their own mistakes/stupidity.
If Nissan had a problem with the steering wheel locking, it would be ALL OVER the internet. I don't think there's a problem at all though....
Have you guys heard about the steering wheel locking up on the C5 Vette? Now that was a real problem that GM had to address. Look it up at www.corvetteforum.com

well there isn't enough info to base anything on, 3 or 4 people out of thousands? i'm sure infiniti as well as any other luxury brands takes things like these seriously and will fix whatever needs to be, sounds more like 'misery loves company' for some people.
theres always the emergency handbrake in freak cases like these.
