Reliable suv or full size sedan under 40k
Reliable suv or full size sedan under 40k
In the market for a new car, the 335i I'm driving has been nothing but headaches with maintenance, so in turn I'm looking at getting rid of it. Looking at suvs or full size sedans that are reliable under 40k......any suggestions or personal experiences/recommendations? Lease wouldn't be an option because I drive way to much. Looking for 2018 and up vehicles. Thank you AZ

Also Honda/Acura Whatever.
Personally, the Mazda CX-5 and Honda CR-V have been bulletproof, but the CR-V now has a CVT while the CX-5 has a regular automatic transmission.

So the car needs to have red or black leather interior which shouldn't be too hard to find. Also get decent gas mileage. Something either around the size of 5 series or an suv. Like I said the 335i is a nice car. But literally every month since the year started I've been dumping $ into the car and it's gotten old real fast. I'm not a "label hoe" per say as far as brands go. But I don't want to really down grade. The main priority is reliability as it will be driven alot. I looked into the new camry as I've liked the exterior but the interior seems really cheap and plasticy if you guys get what I'm saying....... Could have been the trim level.

You're not going to get better reliability and decent gas mileage without a "downgrade".
Check out a 2018-2020 Honda CR-V, plenty of room, gets 33-34 MPG, has black leather interior, extremely versatile, alot of features/functions, ultra reliable. <$40k even for new Touring trim
My wife's 2017 was ~$32k out the door, currently at ~45k miles. Great vehicle.

no red text bro?
are they really? I know they came a long way from the 90s
Red interior isn't really a must but it's nice to look at. The more realistic option would be black leather.

my family has a 2012 Kia Sportage. Trouble free since the day we brought it home in 2012. Has 117,000 miles on it and counting. It is a very simple car, which means it is DEAD reliable.
I think the trouble we all are having is your no real requirements in a ride, except for red seats. (and your pride getting in the way)
there are many cars that fit your bill of under $40k with or without red seats. it's just that your pride gets in the way

My CX-9 has been bulletproof. Grand Touring model with dealer incentives was $40K. I'll say it til I die-Mazda is giving these vehicles away for content/luxury and comfort. Nice finishes, great feel and good driving dynamics. I'm no SUV fan but this one definitely swayed me to it. I got it on a lease and I fully intend on purchasing it as I am so pleased with it.
Ok I get bad responses for my horrible op. So here's the deal, the car is really the wife's. The 335 has been nothing but issues as of recent, not to mention a $ pit. So she's over it. We have a kid and are planning for another in the near future. Last thing I want is for her to be on the side of the road or dealing some sort of car issue. So the car should be big enough for 2 kids and comfortable enough for us on long drives. Her main thing is reliability right now.
So far we've looked at the new camry and the es, as well as the nx and rx, also we looked at the g70 genesis. To give you guys some sort of idea of what she is interested in.
Does this make it better or should I expand more?

That might give you an idea what she likes instead of jumping all over the place from mid size sedan to compact CUV to mid size SUV and full size sedan....
And what did you think of those cars you tested? All of the one's you listed are quite reliable. Just gotta figure out if she wants that extra space of an SUV or not and then narrow down from there. Most Asian brands are going to be reliable, minus maybe Nissan and Mitsubishi or things with the 9speed ZF transmission.
What do you think of the Toyota Highlander or Subaru Ascent or even Outback? Maybe a Hyundai Palisade or Kia Tulluride. Those all seem like good family cars that are also reliable.

The G70 is smaller than the Jetta. Your Golf is exceptionally short because it is a hatchback. Can’t just compare hatchback sizes to sedan sizes because the equivalent hatchback is almost always at least half a foot shorter.

you forgot to provide the most important part of all that... which one did she like out of all the ones she looked at?
