Radar Detector

I just bought a used Beltronics 840i radar detector for $25. I know it's an older model, but beltronics is a good brand. Has anyone had any experience with this model, or other Beltronics radar detectors?

I don't mean to hate, but if it isn't a Valentine or Escort its not worth it.

I am looking at that one and the Beltronics RX65, my brother has that one and loves it. I'll be looking to buy a new one in June or July.

i'm not familiar with that particular model, but I currently have a Bel (bought it in 2000) and haven't had any problems with it

I have a different model Bel, the Vector 975LR remote. It works great, had it for about 5 years now.

hate to tell you this but Beltronics and Escort IS the same company... The Beltronics RX65 is basically Escort's Passport 50x...

with that said... I have the RX65 and have been happy with it...

and to the OP, if you decide to get a newer Beltronics RD, you can get like $60-$80 off for trading an older model in... but only if you buy directly from them.

btw, here's a cool bracket for RD's... it sit's just under the rear view mirror...

and if anyone's interested, I know a easier way of hardwiring that can be installed in minutes... but the down side is... no mute button... which IMO, is very useful...

Thanks for sharing that info...not sure why I didn't know that, but I'll definitely have to keep that in mind when I upgrade from my current Bel.

I've got the Escort Passport Solo S2. It's wireless and has saved my ass going 100+ many times.

Good to hear, I was feeling some buyers remorse after buying it.
