Question about misfire
Question about misfire
My buddy and I just replaced the fuel injector in his 97 Cavalier becuase it was leaking gas. Soon after we replaced it with a new one, the check engine light came on. The code indicated misfire. The light has gone off on occasion, but then it comes back on. What could we have done to cause this misfire? I would think that replacing the injector would improve the situation, not make it worse.

This was what happened on mine one time. I took the car to the shop to install an alarm. The car came back and the check engine light came on. The fuel injector was spilling fuel non-stop. So... what was the problem? The problem was that the ground cable of the alarm was touching the wire going to one of the fuel injector. Moving the ground cable away from the wire of the injector fixed the problem.
