This is (or was) my friend's 2001 Jetta VR6 up until it sacrificed itself for him late yesterday (Friday). Hit a pothole full of gravel and slid sideways into the sheer rock face on the other side of the road. He's alright but I'm guessing the car is a total write-off. Severe front-end damage, looks like the frame is tweaked, both airbags deployed and the radiator lost all its coolant. Also appeared as though the crankcase might have cracked because it's leaking oil, too. It's got 98,000 miles so again, I'm guessing total write-off. Damn shame because he just got it in November. Thank God for gap insurance.

And he's just fine other than minor friction burns from the airbag deployment and being a bit shaken up.

 

Goshdamn. Glad he's okay though, the car did its last duty pretty damn well.

 

I'm thinking the car is done for, no salvaging that bad boy.

Looked like a big accident, good to hear it made it out fine...
