This is called a SmartCar.....
Was in UK last week and saw this. All I know is that it is called a SmartCar, is a 2 seater and I think has a 500 cc engine.
There is also a small Mercedes that is a 4 seater called a A-10 but did not get a picture of that.

Smartcar is a joint venture between MB and SWATCH. The body parts are interchangeable. You can order different colors and mix and match. It hasn't been the success they had hoped until recently. It';s been around for a number of years. But just in the past year and a half has it started to see profits and steady sales.
The A-class gave MB trouble out of the shoot. It rolled over in one of the first European tests. MB found a big problem with the suspension, and to their credit. Halted production and redesigned it immediately. I've gotten the chance to drive and A-class that was here in the states for testing. It's a pretty slick little ride. (and I mean little)

Yup! Little is the word, but it is really pretty cool for a small car. Except, of course, it is a MB and price reflects it.
Rock Dog, are they planning on bringing the A class into the States??? I think, personally, I would opt for a hybrid Civic....

fawkin FORD has one of these in their own version.. its an electrical trach can on wheels.. I punch the fawker and it dented... I pushed the dent and it popped out! It was made of the same thick plastic as my trash can at home.. I was like WTF!? I hate these new "economy commuter smart-car" craps!
Now that is parallel parking at its finest. there is like an inch left over at each side. There is one exactly like the one in the small picture here in Avon Park , FL. I asked the owner if he would let me see it and he said ok. His was a manual transmition without a clutch
Smart cars are the shiz.
The A180 is def not the shiz. besides bein a benz it has no appeal.
and i hear they were thinking up new versions of the SMART line, like a lil roadster and other shit. BTW i think the only SMART car in america is in Louisiana, this is just what i heard from a friend of mine about 1.5 years ago so i could be wrong.

In Germany they are available for rental at the airport. Back in '99 when I took the last picture, there were very few on the street. Nowadays, they are everywhere.
There are a wide variety of engine and body types available. Check out the SMART official site

Yeah, I saw a ton of them in Spain. I guess the reason they are called Smart is because how you feel because you can park that thing anywhere. I saw a guy actually back up straight into a spot and leave the Smart perpedicular to the curb, now thats smart.
These cars are all over the place in my city. (Vancouver CA) In fact our parking enforcement guys use them. Good if you live in a big city for short trips but I'd hate to even get in a fender bender with one. They are TINY! Sometimes I see them parallel parked with the nose facing the street haha.
Unofficially, yes. They're imported in large numbers as grey market cars so the feds will let them in, provided they're brought up to spec for bumpers and crash-worthiness. Smart will officially enter the U.S. market for the 2008 Model Year. I wouldn't mind having one myself as a little 'round-town car. I think they're funny.
