Project G35TT

I dont know if I've posted about it but I got my G35 twin turbo'd back in may.. the entire process of getting a new engine and everything installed took all of two months. I have a couple of goals in this project, one to just have a very..very fast ride that still looks nice and also to push the limits on the VQ engine. People seem to think the VQ cant hold more than 8psi, I've actually been pushing 10psi (as high as 11psi from time to time) for the past 5000 miles with no problems and the car runs STRONG. I was making 406whp @ 9psi, so I'm not sure what I'm getting at 11psi.

I actually hit a deer last week and messed up the front end of my car, suprisingly the insurance company has been very helpful in putting my car back on the road even though it is completely modified. The deer ended up causing $5,000 worth of damage so I may be taking up deer hunting as a new hobby this fall. Here is a picture before the accident:

Heres a picture I took with my camera phone afterwards:

Damn it just breaks my heart to see that picture. The intercooler never got direct airflow and the temperatures under the hood stayed pretty high so I've decided to go with a top secret replica bumper and CF vented hood:

Couldn't find a Top Secret bumper on a black G so this is the best I could find.

I have a friend that does an AMAZING job on headlights, he originally put bmw projectors for my low beams but now he's going to do that plus put M3 bi-xenon's for my fog lights/high beams so I wont miss the next deer that jumps out at me:

One of the local shops will be painting the whole car so the paint job will look perfect, hopefully everything will come out better than it was before. I was looking at finding sponsorships but I've pretty much done everything out of pocket up to this point so I dont know what else can be done other than rebuilding the engine.. and I'll be able to do that next spring

Serious? which rods and pistons did you go with? I got the APS kit, other than that I just have test pipes and the nismo exhaust for performance mods.

Nice ride!

However, makes me realize what a strong fucking motor is in the CL-S. 406whp on 8psi for the G35. 420whp on <6psi for the CL-S

Thanks, but I thought that would have more to do with compression ratio. What is the CR on the CL-S?

Sweet! did you have to change out the actuators? I'm looking to start my rebuild next year and shoot for 600whp.

nah, the shop is an unichip dealer so they can adjust it via the chip.

whoa....600whp would require even more engine work (heads, etc.), bigger fuel system, race gas and/or n2o, maybe better cooling (air to water IC? or water injection), and upgraded rear axles.

Now, if you could just get a nice RWD platform to put that in and we would be in business. And you KNOW this engine is bulletproof.

BTW, that G35 is SEX on wheels just in the way it looks. I can't imagine how nice it is to drive!!!

Well I already have water injection, definitely going to need a bigger fuel system but APS should have theirs out by then. APS says the turbos can produce up to 800 crank hp so I hope 600whp isnt too optimistic, the highest I've seen yet is 540whp with the APS kit and that guy is running a 10.5 compression ratio.

Since you're out in cali is it brainstorm that is doing the tuning for you? I'm gong to have to drive up to chicago to get mine properly tuned which is a pain in the ass.

Yea, the turbos should be okay...they are good up to 20psi I think. The highest I've seen in person or driven is 530whp at 15psi with 9:1 CR on 100 octane. With 70:30 water:alcohol injection and additional or larger injectors 600 should be possible. Dont know bout reliability or drivability though. 500whp is good enough for me.

Nah, Scott Performance in Santa Clara is doing all the work. They have Daltek dyno in house.

I like the bumper, especially if it helps with the intercooler, but that style hood is on all the riced out Accords around here.

I wont lie, I had the same feelings on the hood and I'm still a little concerned if its going to be too much.. I still have a stock hood in my garage if I want to go back to stock but its not so much the look, its how functional it is. For anyone that owns a 350Z or G35 they know how hot they run under the hood and twin turbos only make it 10 times worse so a vented hood is a must.

10.5:1 There's no need to build the bottom end on the Acura motor.

ours is 10.3:1 on the VQ, with a lower compression ratio people are pushing 12psi to get the numbers I get at 9psi.

And about the hood, I've sat and thought about it and looked at some pictures and I think you guys are right.. the hood takes away from the luxury look of the G35. I really appreciate the honest opinions, I'm so used to getting compliments that I think people are scared to give me constructive criticism on the decisions I make so.. stock hood it is.
