Look at the brand and model, google it to see if there is a manual for it.

most wires in the car are 12v sources. you see how theres 2 wires coming out of the siren? now im not familiar with sirens but there are 2 possibilities:
1. one wire is positive 12v and one wire is negative. so it will make sound whenever it received signal from the source.
2. one wire is positive 12v and one wire is signal source. so the 12v is for the source of power and whenever the signal wire receives signal it makes a sound.

so where should the signal source wire be connected to?

I am tempted to inform you that it is illegal in at least some states to use law enforcement sirens, lights etc.. But I won’t as I am sure you already know and/or it is legal in your state.

True true, I always wanted to do that but over here once you get caught you will be charged for Impersonating a law enforcer. That's a serious charge. Just like having probe lights, you're able to have them installed but you can not run with them on.

The box gets a hot wire and a ground and the speaker should plug into that if the box supplies the power to the speaker if not you'll need an amp in there. You should use an inline fuse to protect your vehicle's electrical system once you find a terminal. You have to figure out if you want it hot all the time or only when the car is running or if the key is in the accessory position.

If you don't know how to do that pay someone to do it for you.

What brand is it, looks like a FED signal. some have various wires for the horn so when you hit the car horn it will change the siren tone (intersection mode) also some are for radio rebroadcast so you can hear the radio out side car. some even have a mode that use the door or park switch so it wont work with door open or in park so when you get out of car chasing I mean the officer gets out the siren dont blast his ears off.

Good lord, you-all are a bad influence. If he told you he bought a used cop car you'd all tell him to smoke the seats because it will get you high.

Here's my best guess. The green from the siren is a ground wire(this can go directly to the body of the vehicle). So the blue wire is for the signal output from the unit. The red wire is the power supply(hot). The yellow might be the output to the speaker. Not sure why the gray & brown are wrapped together. Sometimes there are remote power wires that are needed to operate the system(they need power from the ignition or the unit will not work). These might be the case with the two that are tied together(although these are usually blue). Looks like the pink was never used. Occasionally there are wires that connect to the two way radio in the cruiser so that they can listen to the radio outside the vehicle(to hear calls). Maybe that is the function of the pink wire.

can't tell, but I know some PA systems require a amp, but if that's all he had installed previously and it worked, maybe it's built in.

Maybe just hook up the power and ground to a car or computer, and see if you can get it working before you bother installing everything.

my friend had one in like high school, and quickly proceeded to get a ticket for playing ice cream truck music.

FWIW, the red text was edited in later... it wasn't originally posted with it... hence the mocking replies to the "girls" comment. I think we should put it back to the original

Terrible idea. My former friend back in HS had one and also had a blue LED bar that flashed. Nothing like a cop car but it was enough to put him in cuffs in the back of a squad car when he got caught cruising around with the light on beeping his horn. Not cool.
