Well, Doesn't take into account the air flowing into the engine bay at speed. And some stock systems are restrictive & others no so much. That is a fact.
Doesn't prove much IMHO.

read this:

This means that there is very little if any power to be found from removing the air filter, much less changing the filter type. The K&N did flow better than the Napa Gold in the first test to the tune of 0.02 psi. That is less than 1/3rd the loss in the factory piping, and it is a whopping 0.14% of atmospheric pressure (14.7 psi). If you need the 0.14% better airflow, than the K&N is hands down the best filter.
flow difference is so little that you may improve performance better by losing your clothes before going to the track.

I'm not talking about some stock panel filter & a K&N or other. I'm taking about complete stock air intakes & CAI's like Comptech or AEM, or others.

I agree the replacement panel filters for stock air boxes are a waste.
Cars are all different. Some respond better then others & generally mods add up to work together.

I've always wondered about exposed POD filters. They look nice but they have no choice but to pull in hot air and that can't be good.

Any intake mod = for sound. As long as everyone knows this going in, it'll be fine.

... the other thing is that most modern cars' ECUs will make the necessary fuel-air mixture adjustments to account for dirty filters and more free flowing filters, which means (theoretically) a more free flowing filter should not add any additional hp.

excellent, so glad someone pointed this out. however increase fuel mixture will cost you at the pump. so change that dirty filter.

This thread has mucho win.

CAIs are for sound only, not for power gains. I say this having one on my car right now. I love the resulting supercharger whine.

I agree. Only thing I have changed on my car was the stock air filter with a K&N airfiler. Kept everything else stock.

BTW...I went on a diet and I did feel a performence gain on my car and motorcycle.

So we all know CAI is just for the cool sounds.

The real question is what is going on 2:16-2:18 in the CAI video?
