Got the wheels put on yesterday, and the alignment fixed after a lovely winter of potholes... I coated the wheels with some Dr. Beasley's Matte Wheel Sealant and I love how they look, the matte finish looks awesome
Truck is back to looking the way it should, and it's still April Colts... I washed the truck on Monday and today it had a quarter inch of plant sperm on it.
I hosed it down with a power washer, and literally 2 hrs later it had plant sperm all over it again... No wonder my allergies are all fucked up
Big things coming this week, stay tuned
And keep catching those balls

Looks great. I washed the Tundra Sunday, drove 11 miles to work, parked in a covered outdoor space and came out 7 hours later to a truck covered in dust and pollen.
Sux.

Looking good. We have been dealing with the plant sperm for over a month already. Ready for it to be over.
Has the fiance figured out what is in the big box yet?

Nope, she did stand in the garage and look back there the other day, but didn't say a word about it. She's on a cruise all week so some of those things may be gone when she gets back

It will be outside at some point this week. Funny story, I was outside washing my truck on Monday and this kid is walking down the street and says "Dude, what kind of Acura is that? It looks SO nice!"
Lmao, I still love how nobody knows what the 1G CL is since it's so rare

Meh, I like them as they are too much to really modify them. RE the chrome trim, my plan is to vinyl wrap the chrome in a satin/matte black & do a poor-man's Night Pkg.
One benefit to Iridium Silver, it blends a lot better with the chrome than the darker colors.

So I started the modding off right by removing my factory exhaust, a friend of mine works Mondays at a shop 5 minutes from my work and had a pit. I had planned to do this in my garage
Before:
For a year and a half old vehicle the rust was pretty crazy, we had a hell of a time getting to the upper bolts on the exit pipe, even bending the exhaust down we couldn't get to them.
We ended up cutting the stock pipe, I didn't want to but finally I suggested it and we got this sucker right out
Installing the new muffler was a piece of cake after that, everything mounted right up as it should. I replaced the stock cat-back with a Borla Touring cat-back system.
We had to drop the spare in order to get the old piping out and route the new piping and remove a heat shield, but it was a simple task and made tons of difference
Here's the piping all routed and mounted up
And the Borla tip right in the stock location. It lined up perfectly and no modification to the stock mounts was needed.
They also sent me some Borla swag which was a nice bonus
Still breaking the exhaust in, but so far I'm very happy with the sound. It has a nice rumble but does not drone obnoxiously and sounds throaty. Also it has given the truck an instant shot of pep and get up and go, so I'm happy with the first major upgrade of the spring so far.

All we had handy was a handheld air saw, so that's what we used. The pipe had a heat shield on it and we couldn't get very good exposure to the pipe. It wasn't pretty but we got it done

I think you add "bitch" the our posts in your head when you read them...
I'm just saying it looked like you had a bitch of a time cutting that pipe off!
I was right!
Borla is good shit...
I think exhaust is one of those things that really lets you enjoy your car.

Got another big mod done today, things have been slower than I hoped because my dog is sick and I've had to take care of him first and foremost. But I did get out today to do some work on the truck. Here's a before of the engine bay.
And here's the stock intake with the drop in K&N filter
I removed the stock intake, didn't get any more before pics, but here's a before pic of the throttle body
And here's this goodie, I bought this back on Black Friday with the other upgrade that's going in with it.
Look at that sexy piece of aluminum
So I removed the throttle body bolts, and here you go
Installed the gasket, and started bolting this bad boy back in
Another big question mark with these mods was would I be able to reuse the TRD "air accelerator intake piece which I had on my stock intake with the K&N filter. This bitch was DIRTY!
And here's the other part of the mod upgrade that I bought on Black Friday... 29 HP, yeah right It's not a V10 viper, but any HP helps
So I pulled the TRD air accelerator out and cleaned it up after some test fitting
Next I went to work moving the bushings and gasket onto the new airbox.
The big knock on this intake was that it left a finger wide gap between the cold air intake gasket and the fenderwell intake hole. My solution was to try and see if I could reuse the TRD intake piece. Low and behold the TRD air accelerator that is made for that intake hole fits right inside the intake gasket of the cold air intake.
So to eliminate the gap between the fenderwell and the intake gasket, I reused the TRD air accelerator intake piece
And here it is installed inside the intake gasket pulling air from the fenderwell.
And here is the giant new airbox installed, this thing is ridiculously huge compared to the stock box it's about twice the width of the stock box
Here's a side by side of the stock size K&N drop in box filter with the new massive cone filter that comes with the intake
And here's the new oiled cone filter installed into the giant airbox
Since I'm swapping out intake tubes I had to remove the MAF sensor from the stock intake to put on the new AFE intake tube
Here it is all installed on the new intake tube
New intake tube all ready to go in
I didn't get any pics of the throttle body side install, but I lined everything up and bolted it on
And here she is in all her glory
And you know I had to go with the blue oiled filter to match the blue truck
The intake sounds great and really compliments the Borla cat-back exhaust that I installed on Monday. The truck really breathes and gets up and goes, the throttle response with both of these mods is great. I'm very happy with the added power and pep from the new mods. More to come :gheywave:

I removed the 27 or so latest rust comments and trolling, it was funny 6 months ago but this is a build thread. Please refrain from crapping my thread up in the future with the rust bs, those comments will be deleted to keep the thread on topic.

AFE was pretty popular with the EcoBoost group when I had the F150. One of the trucks I test drove has one & it sounded pretty good feeding the 3.5TT.

Damn that looks rust awesome...
did you notice an rust improvement in acceleration or at least sound?
there's no way it doesn't make rust a difference.
And it looks cool corrosion to boot...
and that looks rusty like a velocity stack to salty me.

Yeah, a definite increase in throttle response and get up and go acceleration, this thing wants to move now even with the heavier wheels. The TB spacer is basically a velocity stack as well, creates "turbulence" with the air as it hits the TB. I haven't seen any other 4Runners running both, but I'm happy that I paid the extra hundred for it, I think they're a great combo. And you can definitely hear the intake on open throttle, it's louder inside the cabin than the cat-back exhaust is lol

It's definitely a well made intake, I researched every brand out there before making my decision. I'm definitely happy with it so far, this engine just wants to breathe!

Got some small mods done today, nothing too exciting but a few add on touches. First was a locking gas cap, I hate that they got rid of the locking gas door on the 5th gens, both my 4th gens had the locking door which was great. Before:
After:
Also, I threw on a new hitch accessory, got rid of the generic Toyota end cap
Before:
Here's the new step/recovery tow hook for the rear hitch. I am always paranoid of being rear ended so I figured this will give me a little extra protection back there. Also the step will come in handy when I put the roof rack on. Also put a Tyger locking hitch pin on with it
And here it is installed
Looking good next to that new Borla exhaust
And third, the stock battery tie down never fit my Odyssey battery right so after ordering another tie down that didn't fit with the spacer. Before:
And here's the shiny new one made by Off Grid Engineering billet aluminum tie down, I got it with new stainless J-hooks and hardware
Really happy with it so far, and it looks great

We test drove a 2006 4Runner SR-5 in blue back in December 2012. I was amazed st the pick up!
I love how you're doing small improvements in your driveway instead of crazy mods... It's so much more elegant ans subtle!
