Ordered my programmer
After getting pissed off w/ this Torque Management system they have on the LS2 cars I decided to finally order a Diablo Predator hand held tuner.
I'm basically getting it only to remove the TM right now, it's not a very detailed tuner that you can get in trouble with and since the car is stock power wise (and will be for a year or so while I feel out the suspension; next on the list the KW V2 coilovers once they come out, the V3's are out now but I don't need an external reservoir or to spend that kind of money right now; after suspension i'll work on the brakes, then the motor).
Torque Managment senses torque at rear wheels, it then retards timing and shuts down the trottlebody. It slows you down no rear wheel power so you don't break the drivetrain (it should be find w/o it though, and that's what warranty's are for
) Removing it should be good for .2 off of my 0-60. You really feel the timing getting pulled when going WOT from a stop, and also feel it on the 1-2 upshift. You really feel it when you try to get the car sideways around a slow turn, it just won't go all the time and you really have to try (you shouldn't have to TRY w/ 400 lbft and 245's lol)
The main reason I didn't go w/ a more complex tuner (like the ones you have to use your laptop with) is you can get yourself in some real trouble with those, and since the motor is stock it's not needed.
Most stock cars dyno around 330/330, some have been in the 340-350's but not many.
Here is a bone stock car that got a dyno tune w/ this unit (something I will do in the future, but at first i'll mess w/ the stock tunes)
"Everything stock right down to the paper filter, 3100 miles.
Stock: 329hp/329tq
Peak hp @ 5970rpm, peak tq @ 4300 rpm
Tune: 352.2hp/360tq
Peak hp @ 5550 rpm, peak tq @ 4570 rpm
At 1700 rpm I gained over 34ft-lbs and about 32 at 4500 rpm!!! The max hp gain was about 30hp between 5000 and 5500 rpm. Got some knock at higher rpm but the tech said I'll only see that on the dyno and not the road. I spend very little time up there anyway. I'm pretty happy with the results for being bone stock and just getting a tune. And this was NOT a custom tune, only playing with the Predator adjustments for about 45 minutes. We did a total of about 7 runs on the dyno."

Couldnt you just borrow someones if you plan to just use it for one program?
Im assuming its just a flash to reprogram the ecu, so what need is it after you do this once?
So you lose more low end to gain top end?

no, you most likely gain more low end and top end, as you noticed, that guy gained nearly 34 lb ft at 1700 rpm
(does the dyno in my first post not show up?)I got a steal on this unit, and since the car is under warranty I'd like the ability to have my own unit to go back to stock with whenever I want. I will also mess around w/ some custom tunes after doing some minor data logging (increasing spark, +/- fuel, etc).
The unit can also be used as an OBDII scanner (which is something i've been meaning to buy cause friends are tired of me borrowing theirs
)I also believe that the units are VIN specific (once you hook it up to a car) and you need to send them back in and pay $99 to unlock them.

Ashburner, I picked this one because i'm nervous I don't have the technical expertise for the others.
I just got it and installed it and drove the car down the block. the SOTP feeling definately tells me there is more unleashed, esp. down low. I only installed the 91 octane tune they have, and will try the "diablo tune" later to see if I do infact get pinging.
Car feels great though, the 1-2 upshift is OUTSTANDING as the timing retard doesn't kick in from the TM
Also, taking off from a dead stop at about 900 RPM sends the bitch up in smoke

sucks that you might have to worry about breaking the axle though if you get too much traction.

getting too much traction isn't an issue

You may want to order from RWTD as they include the ability to do custom tunes for you via the internet the first year (I didn't need it as i'll have it tuned locally on a dyno)
Plug it into the OBDII slot and remove 3 fuses and you are good. (most say you don't need to remove the fuses).

the only tuner available to colorado owners is a laptop based tuner, so you're lucky. all i really want is my TM taken off, but i don't want to pay $500 just to do that
For a minute there I thought you had ordered one of these guys:

Damn warranties
