I like the layout of the cluster, but I've never liked Audi's overuse of red/orange. I was in my buddy's A6 a few weeks ago and like every light/led in the whole thing was red. That would drive my eyes crazy. Does it give you alternatives that you can change it to? (green.... white...etc).

I agree with derelict. A friend also has a 2001 A6 and those red lights drive me insane. Other than that, awesome layout and good ergonomics. Acura is about half a generation behind Audi. Shit, the A6 even has THREE memory seat settings for the PASSENGER seat.

I LOVE my A6 gauge cluster, its nearly identical to the 2004 A4. and yes, so long as the radio station broadcasts the correct signal, the dash and headunit will display the artist name and song name currently playing on the radio, as well as the name of the radio station. cool shit. audi is well beyond a 1/2 step above Acura, lol.

Says you. Sorry, jimcol711, but I'd take the new TL's interior over the Audi's any day...

Audi is 1/2 a step above Acura interior-wise? Well hey, you like what you like but to say that it is 50% better compared to the TL's (refer to above pic ) or even the current CL's is--well sorry for a lack of a better word--stupid?

Hate to break it to you guys but Olds Aleros have the radio artist feature albeit not on the cluster. :P

actually....even my older (2000 A4) has that feature too. I've noticed a lot of my Chevy rental cars have it as well.

Yeah but you probably do it weekly and with premium. Lucky guy. I pay the same with cheap every 4 days since I work 50 miles away. I get only 350 out of a 17 gallon tank.

dude, youre dilusional.....i owned a CL-S, i loved it, but lets get real, the build quality, design, material quality of the CL-S interior is FAR below that of the A6. FAR BELOW.

there is nothing about the CL-S interior that is on par with the A6 interior, let alone SUPERIOR to the A6.

the new TL is a different story, i really think Acura stepped up to the plate with the new TL interior.....but.....so did AUDI with the NEW A6, its absolutely immaculate, and again...a leap ahead of the new TL. acura is making the right moves, dont get me wrong, but being on par with Audi is something they still lag far behind on.

sorry but the A6's gauges and dash do NOT look the same as the (old) A6's... old A6 looks more like a Passat (which it should) - and I don't like it hardly as much. I mean, I don't look at the A6's dash and feel the same way I do about the new A4 - which had been completely redesigned for 2004. The NEW A6, might be a different story.... I would think it would look more like the new A4...

The new TL's gauges are definitely killer. I just love combinations of white, blue, and red going on. Call me patriotic. And the highlighting is excellant.

oh yeah the TL's interior looks better than the old A6. In fact, the whole car does.

k thanks bye

How is this a step above the 04 TL's interior?

The Audi looks much better to me. Acura leather is also some of the cheapest leather you'll ever encounter in a low end luxury car. However, I think that both Audi & BMW could do without the red lighting on their gauges.

quite simply....because it is. not to mention, thats the current gen (old) A6 interior, virtually identical to my 2001. the 2005 A6 has an interior that is unbeleiveable.

not to mention, you are comparing that photo to the photo of the non-nav TL interior with the gauge lights turned on (photochopped or enhanced to some degree as they are NOT purple, nor do they have that much glow) in any case, its quite simple, german luxury > quasi japanese luxury.

better materials, better assembly, less rattles and squeaks, overall better finish, and the list goes on

Whoops my bad. Ok after seeing whats to come in 05 A6 yeah i'd have to say it is much better then the 04 TL. However with the price difference i would hope so.

Chap your comparing the 04 TL to the 05 A6 .. lets compare 05 RL to 05 A6.

Sorry but I'd rather stare at the Acura interior all day than the A6.

I have to disagree on the Acura leather thing, btw. Best leather I've felt was in a Designo S500, very nice. Nappa in the stock S500 ain't bad either, but my uncle's E320 has some shitty fucking leather. And it's an 02. I like my CL-S leather better than that E320 leather.

wow lots of varying opinions here, not surprisingly. I like some red in the dash lighting. Not overdone (ever been in a Bimmer??? yeah it's ALL red/orange...) - the new TL, new A4 - that's how its done. imo.

anyways, to each his own. I would take an 04 TL over a 2000-2003 A6 without even thinking about it.

Dude..he's talkin' bout the newest 2005 A6 that's coming out late this year, not 2004 A6 you just posted a picture of. Interior of it is definitely better than of TL. And yes, you cannot really make comparisons on the build quality between Audis and Acuras (material, fit, finish, etc)
Sure, TL has a wicked lookin' interior and lots of cool features but I think it doesn't look as luxurious as A6's.
Take a look.

Lots of opinions here. I'm not big on BMW's center console. It doesn't look right to me and too orange.

Both 04 TL and upcoming 05 RL are better then the Audi interior. That is my opinion.

This all comes down to opinions in the end.

But let's all thank jimcol for his newfound elitist attitude cause he recently got himself a used audi. So his car now superior to everyone elses on this board. Please jim, justify your reply of " quite simply....because it is" you're full of shit bro. Have fun when the electircal problems start in a couple years.

Just cause a car has Audi labeled on it doesn't make it any better or any worse then anyother car brand out there. Go back to your Dodge Truck, you'd still be an ignorant asshole, but at least a more tolerable asshole. get over yourself....and your audi.
