Question One size doesn't fit all! What would you get?

I know most people end up sacrificing what they would really love to drive because it wouldn't be practical. So, hypothetically speaking:

If you didn't have to consider your family's, pet's, or children's needs....

If you didn't have to worry about gas mileage or gas prices....

But you DID have to use it as your daily driver and it had to suit all of YOUR needs (eg: fit the items you'd like to transport and carry on a regular basis). I purposely left off exotic sportscar and exotic sedan because that would make things too easy.

What size car would you get and enjoy the most? Where's your comfort lever?

* Sub-compact
* Compact
* 3-door
* 5 door
* Mid-size Coupe
* Mid-size Sedan
* Mid-size Wagon
* Large Car Sedan
* CUV
* Mid-size SUV
* Full-size SUV
* Van
* Truck
* Extended-cab Truck

If I didn't feel like I might die in a minor fender bender (because of size) while in compact cars, I'd probably be really happy in a Mazda 3-sized car. However, because of my nerves and paranoia regarding small car safety, I'd probably feel most comfortable in a mid-size. A coupe would be alright, but a sedan would just allow easier access to the backseat.

So I'd probably vote for a mid-size sedan.

If safety concerns wasn't as much of a factor, I'd be fine in a compact.

I'm driving it now... a mid sized coupe. My CLS 6spd is what I call a "compromise car". Jack of all trades, master of none. It's a great all around car, but it doesn't really stick out in any one area. Styling is kinda bland, it's FWD so while it's good in snow, it's not the ultimate performance platform. It has decent power (260hp), but still gets 23-26mpg on the highway... When new, it was a decent bang for the buck when compared to other luxury cars (g35, bmw 330, etc).

My CLS is very practical and has a decent sized trunk. I've had 8 bags of mulch in there, 8 ft peices of lumber (thru the passthru), and on another occasion had a few rolls of sod in the trunk.

I wanted only one car, so I was willing to make some sacrifices here and there in choosing a car to meet my needs.

If I had to do it over, I'd probably buy an old used toyota 4x4 pickup truck for winter duty and home depot runs, and a dedicated RWD summer only performance coupe.

Given my day to day needs, a mid-size sedan fits best.

Didn't you just have a problem fitting your gun in the car when you went skeet shooting? Does the small space pose a problem with any other things you tend to transport?

A fairly quiet sub-compact/compact sedan (previous-gen TSX 6M, 335i) or coupe (Volvo C-30-size) with a manual transmission.

The smaller, faster and more refined the car, the better- I drop off two middle-school kids, but rarely carry anything that won't fit in a Porsche-sized trunk.

Size of the 1st gen TSX would be perfect for it.

smaller the better for me. Easier to park, less stressful changing lanes, etc. All new cars sold in America, and plenty big for the average size person to fit in, and I don't really carry a lot of people/things.

s2k was a little small for me, but I think I could manage. I honestly really love the size of my xB, sorry to keep talking about it, but it fits a crap load of stuff when I need to, but since it doesn't need room for an engine , overall dimensions are still smaller than an s2k. But the only reason I like hatches is because they are practical. I also like the size of the 5 door GTi, and A3.

I think if I was buying a daily driver without worrying about anything else, the biggest car i'd be looking at is maybe the size of an entry level luxury sedan (eg. is350, tsx, 3 series)

The obvious solution to the gun problem was to buy a new gun, that is the ultimate guy answer Only one or two of my guns won't fit, while it could be seen as a problem I typically only use either of those guns once every few years, hardly something that would weigh as a serious factor when purchasing a car. I was just upset when I posted that the other day because my shoulder was sore from shooting a gun that doesn't fit me to well.

my GTO has a super super small trunk, and I haven't really ran into too many problems. Wheels and tires were my big challenge

Perfect for me is BMW M5 size though

My Accord coupe has a perfect amount of space, but I hate it how it has only two doors. Its a pain to get in and out of the backseat sometimes. With that said, the TL would be perfect for me.

Something like a C6... ability for open air motoring and their trunks are friggin huge! I don't carry stuff all the time but my god has it been useful to have a hatchback with folding seats and t-tops. I could also live with a roadster like an S2000 on a daily basis

since i don't have a family or kids, the main deterrent would have been gas mileage.

but at the moment, i'd like to be driving a coupe. the size of the 1g TSX is perfect for me, but it's just "too" practical if that makes any sense.
