Same here...even when it was a fad for lowering cars in the early 2000s, I was never a fan of it.

Basically, if you have a wagon, you must have that Thule box...not because of storage...but, to complete the look.

I bet that 300TD is major $$ relatively speaking. It looks almost unused.

I wouldn't mind finding a W123T for a daily, but clean ones are getting harder & harder to find.
My 240D was bulletproof, until it was crushed from behind by an F150.
Slowest car I've ever driven, but the 300TD would be peppier (or at least it was in the heavier 300SD I had).

I think certain wagons can get away with it. Oh, and it has to be the super low profile Thule box. Merc/Audi/BMW.Volvo can all wear it well. If it really hugs the roof and the car is lowered....... Yeah.

Not how far I would lower, but the car is sick. Custom air suspension fitted into the rear bumper.

They look good, but how much utility is really there on those micro-profile roof boxes? Outside of ski/snowboard, doesn't seem like much would fit.

I feel like with Yakima racks, people just leave them on for looks. It's a significant impact to fuel economy, and not that difficult to take off.

Storing it is another story, maybe that's one reason why they leave them on.

That, and they are noisy as hell at anything over 50mph.

To me, the only viable rationale for having a rocket box is to carry skis, because let's face it-a family that has one of these cars in its garage probably doesn't take lengthy road trips preferring to fly instead. This car is not a winter ride for me at all so ditch the Thule

By the way, Car and Driver loved their E450 long term wagon. So tempting ...

Yeah there’s no way I would buy one new. That’s insane depreciation.

Alrhough looking at real world pricing the 2019 E450 wagon is going for upper $50Ks to over $70K depending on options. And that’s not necessarily as a CPO.

Maybe one day. But, looking at the depreciation on the C, not anytime soon.

Though, I expect that the E (and probably the GLE) aren't hit nearly as badly as the C & S. IIRC, when my grandmother sold her 2015 S550 (with around a $130k MSRP) earlier this year, it had depreciated something like 60%

Maybe a W211 E55 Estate

1968 Volkswagen Type 3 Squareback

Incredible job on the restoration, especially the interior and all that brightwork!

Bid us up to ~$18k for the whole package, complete with that air-cooled flat-four over the rear axle ....
