The Official Wagon/Avant Discussion Thread

Without a shot from the front it's hard to tell because I was under the impression that B8 wheels can't fit a B7 unless it's an RS4. So if from a front shot we see the wheels sticking out, it's probably an A/S4.
his car from the front

and an RS4 (notice the fenders & lack of lower cladding)

Yup, that car with B8 Titanium wheels isn't an RS4. If you look at the front fenders of the RS4, the horizontal line pretty much disappears because of the flaring.
On his, it doesn't....

Here is another RS4 Avant for comparison:

My god this white RS4 Titanium Avant is awesome. Other than the white trim on the interior, if I could afford it and if it were availabe stateside, that is exactly what my car would have looked like.

Plenty of people do it. There's a guy on AudiZine that put gallardo wheels on his A4. Another guy put porsche wheels on his.
Fitment probably isn't perfect and if he goes any lower it probably rubs if it doesn't already. The tires may also stick out a bit.
It's the other way around. B6/7 wheels can't be fitted on a B8 because the hub side is changed. B6/7 has 57.1mm hub while the B8 has 66.6mm hub.
Although the hub sizes are different (which is new to me, thanks for that info), it's the offset I was concerned about. At least that's what most have reported on Audizine when asking about putting B8 wheels on a B7.
Adapters and/or spacers.

Makes sense ...
I think the offset is fine if you're using B8 A4/S4 wheels. However, if you use B8 A5/S5 wheels, then it's a different story.
Well the bolt pattern for those switching to lambo or porsche wheels is 5 x 120 IIRC, so those guys gotta use an adapter, don't know if the bolt pattern changed between B6/7 and B8, I don't think it did though.

I'm not sure on the Lambo, but Porsche is 5x130.
they're replicas, not OEM. B8 had them as an option too, most people just call the style RS6

Used maybe, but new, there's no way. I couldn't even get Audi to throw in the solar sunroof option on our US-Spec A4 even though it's an option on the UK-Spec A4. Imagine trying to convince them to sell you a car that they never bring here.
You'd go through hell trying to register it, if its even possible to get a car that new registered. New cars need to meet US crash standards, which means they need a few of that particular car to test. Whomever is importing the car needs to front the money for that. Im not sure how that would work for the RS6 though as they already sell the A6 here.
The easiest thing to do IMO is buy a regular US-spec A6 Avant then buy the engine from a EU wrecking yard and install it. You can also get the body kit and all that for it. But even that will cost a hefty amount.

we get the RS5 and TT-RS.. and probably RS7

Here in Canada, you can pretty much import anything as long as it's 15 years or older, no questions asked. It's like Skyline central.
I honestly don't know about newer cars though. Wasn't there someone that imported a 1G TSX wagon into the US (NY area, I think), a while back? He was on AZ.

Need moar money!

Emissions is just the tip of the iceberg. I think you also have to get your car up to US DOT regulations IIRC.
