The Official BMW 3-Series Discussion Thread
Hey guys, quick question.
There's this 3 series that has 47,000mi and warranty expires in August of this year. Is it possible to buy a warranty extension? And how much do you guys ball park the price to be?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Somewhat time sensitive, hit me back!

Was in the exact same boat. And the answer is no. You can only extend the maintenance plan not the warranty.
FWIW, when I inquired about this, I seem to recall the warranty extension (should I have qualified) was north of $3K for an additional two years. The maintenance plan (which I'm still considering, although in no rush) is $1600.

Not quite. I've seen a Z4 get a brand new engine, clutch, clutch master and slave cylinder and a brake/clutch pedal bracket, all under CPO. Would have cost him more than the car for all that seeing as the car was beat to hell, but he paid a $50 deductable and that was it. Seen plenty of transmissions get put in under CPO, 7-8k bill and the customer just had to pay $50.

why not, wanna keep it secret?
let me run down problems from my personal experience with bmw.
95 bmw 325 at 90K, the whole subframe crack into almost half, thought i would die if i didn't find out on time.
01 bmw 323i at 75K, valve cover gasket leaked, radiator leaked, susp bushing went out, transmission ddid go in reverse, driver side and passenger side window regulators went bad, airbag light on, pw door lock works sometimes haha....
and here is my 2000 honda accord currently 214.000 miles still run like champ. everythings work as it should except timing belts have been replaced twice.

The words "2000 Honda Accord" are like verbal Ambien. Sleep is guaranteed within minutes.
Which BMW this time? I hope I keep my CTS-V longer than you kept the NSX.

you are too fat. lose weight.
I'm car searching and have some "newb" questions about the 3 series. I haven't read all 60 pages of this post so forgive me if I ask something that has already been covered.
I was at a local BMW dealership yesterday and they had a 2006 325i fresh off of lease. It had 38000 miles, navigation, and I guess a premium package. The dealer wanted $28K for it, but from what I can see on edmunds it should go for $23K tops. It is a CPO car, but it I am pretty sure that shouldn't add $5K to the price.
1. Is edmunds a good tool to bring down the price
2. In my research 325 and 330 appear to have the same engine, but different exhaust and ECU. Is this correct, or am I completely off base (very probable)?
3. I have to stay under $25K, 2006+, some warranty, and bluetooth/navigation. What BMW would fit these parameters?

I went to the dealer to cancel the M3 but they just wouldnt let me. They asked why im canceling and I told them my NSX wasnt selling.
So they had their auction guy come in to look at it. Lets say he offered me a price i couldnt refuse. By the looks of their asking price now... you know i got good money for it.
You guys make me scared to update this thread.

I found you're whole experience entertaining. Best of luck with the M3 man... you still doing Euro delivery?

The difference i believe between the 325 and 330 is the intake system, ecu and exhaust. And no, you cant put that on the 325 to make the same amount of power.
For under 25k you can get a 06 325 with under 35k miles for sure. Just keep looking. Its also OK not to get a CPO car. Just get an extended warranty elsewhere.
Typically you can find better deals than what Edmunds says. IMO
Yes, i leave May 26th and pick the M3 up May 28th. Only staying for 4 days since i cant be away from work that long.
Hopefully the car gets here by early July if im lucky.
My route i plan to take with the M3. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&sour...35962&t=p&z=10
Thought about it but no one knows if it will be open by then. Snow ftl.
My route isnt set in stone. Once my date comes closer ill be able to find out if i can go to Stelvio or not.
Looks amazing.
So why the switch? I thought the NSX was everything and then some...

looks awesome... too bad you couldn't stay longer...
NSX lives up to the hype for sure. Just dont buy one that you need to put a lot of money into.
I will get another one later in life. I know so much more about the NSX now than I did when i bought the 94.
Since 2002:
TLS I/E/H/Sways 18's--> 2nd owner totalled
330CI I/E/Springs 19's--> crashed by jesal
Audi A4--> Mods
335I--> Mods
Acura NSX-->Mods
328i--> Mods
M3--> on order.....
another NSX in the future.......

Now how did they get that...
