I took my car in for service this early this morning and checked out the black/black M3 in the showroom. (Actually I took a nap in it )

Ahh the amount of poon that car and I would collect...it'd almost be enough to make an ugly guy sexy

Did a little modding over the weekend. The US E92, comes with a grey headliner. For one, it looks out of place in the Saddle Interior (interior I have). In the rest of the world, buyers get the choice of Grey and Black. The US M3s come with the black headliner, but not the non-M cars. So naturally, I had to have it and did the swap. Someone has to keep the 335i modding alive with Jesal gone back to his roots on Honda.

Big box:

Parts start being removed:

Headliner out!:

First piece in:

Getting closer:

And we're done!: (Just need to paint the overhead consoles)

All the plastic pieces are swapped to black except the 2 overhead consoles. These will be painted matte black once I have time, just a little busy right now with home projects I didn't get around to painting them just yet. You can't order just the plastic pieces from BMW so its MUCH cheaper to paint.

Ah ok, so how much did all this cost? I always wondered why my headliner was grey when everything else is black..

Ya I'd like to know the cost too; I never liked the grey headliner. I think yours looks very nice now.

Real easy, did it by my self with no instructions whatsoever. Its just clips and screws.

Shipping wasn't bad at all, somewhere around $100-$120 considering the size of the package.

I wonder how well a local interior shop could do something like that? I bet for the same quality it'd be just as expensive; so I don't think it's a bad deal at all.

I really like the saddle brown. It was either coral red or saddle brown. I went with coral red.

Question about the manual trans 335...

I test-drove a new manual trans 335 sedan today. It felt like the clutch engaged at the top of the travel on release, and the shifter had a somewhat rubbery and slight balky feel to it. Is that normal for the 335, or am I nuts in thinking that the shifter and clutch on Acuras and Mazdas are much better?

I'm looking at a 335 sedan as a potential replacement for my TL (with wife-requested auto trans ), and haven't driven an auto 335 yet.

I drove a 2006 Z4M tonight for about an hour (friend of mine owns it) and I would concur that I felt much of the same thing. I think it makes it hard to shift quickly but it could be my unfamiliarity with it.

The manual in the 335 is pretty bad compared to Hondas/Acuras.

It helps to get a weighted knob thats shorter than stock but still feels like rubber.

I didnt mind the high engagement of the clutch though.

Thanks, guys. I was afraid you would confirm my suspicions, although I suppose that is preferable to me being wrong. I hadn't ever driven a BMW stick shift before. I may skip the manual trans and try out the auto ...well, at least the wife will be thrilled...

on the high clutch engagement. I, for one, didn't like it. I've driven some others MT where the clutch could engage pretty much almost anywhere. The M's gearbox/cluch while heavier, definitely feels better, they don't make them like they used to.

Double clutch tranny will be out in fall for the coupe and convertibles.

My 06 330i lease is up so I ordered a 335i coupe back in May. I took delivery last week.
It was between the G37, A5, and 335i. I hated the service at all the Infiniti dealers I visited. The A5 is beautiful but felt slow and steering was too loose. Dealers were also charging MSRP.

FYI, also till the end of july, there is .9% financing on 335i coupes and free auto tranny (factory rebate) till the end of July.

Gracias!
A friend just got a 535 yesterday and was also offered 0.9% (she paid cash, though ).
I'll take the kids tomorrow to look at the sedan (manual and auto) and the coupe, which looks pretty decent despite my old-fogey sedan-body bias: the kids are still small enough to scrunch in back.

Hence, my .

Her parents taught her not to buy a car unless she could pay cash, but she could actually make money by borrowing at 0.9% and putting that cash in a higher-interest account.

I may try the financing @ 0.9% if I decide to pick up a 335...or I could pull a Whiskers and look at Infinitis, Hyundais, Accords, Volvos, Rolls Royces...
