I agree with you on the fact that gearing "limits" the point at which an engine's revs are, but don't engines typically have 2 or more points where power is at peak? Peak Torque and Peak HP is where I'm getting at. That's just how I always thought it to be

for internal combustion engines, there is 1 point of peak HP and 1 point of peak torque, and they do not occur at the same rpm.

Yes, I should have been more clear about that. I guess there is one "ideal" spot for acceleration.
