Hmmmmm so nothing on MSF either, huh? I definitely plan on getting an OCC I just haven't bought one yet. Some many mods I need to get but I have yet to install the shocks, springs and refinish the wheels, so I'm putting off a lot until I get those sorted out. I need new tires too so that's a big purchase that I'll have to make in the next month or two. I did just pick up a used eBay strut bar for $25 shipped from MSF though ha ha. I'll wait to see if anyone chimes in with real world experience on the kit I linked before pulling the trigger.

Yep. Well I got it used off of the MSF Classifieds, so I don't have it in my hands yet, but it should be in the mail tomorrow. My main reason for finally getting it is because twice now after gutting the 2nd cat I've gotten a big plume of smoke backing out of our nanny's driveway, so the first order of business is raising the idle to 950 rpm to hopefully end that shizzit. Of course I'd like a little extra pull after the 5,500 rpm drop off as well and hopefully tune it to like the 91 octane a little better. I'm sure I'll be PMing you with questions about certain maps, if you don't mind of course.

Please please please read and understand how to use ATR before making ANY adjustments.

A lot of people threw their rods out because they were making a lot of incorrect adjustments on their map.. lol

Yeah dude, ask me anything about it. I've spent like 5 months trying to dial in my map with one of the mods at MSF who is super nice. I can maybe introduce him to you via email later, if you want.

It was proven multiple times that if you really dial in your tune good via ATR, you can essentially squeeze out about 25-35whp/wtq.

Btw, the OTS maps suck butt, so you must make some good adjustments.

A MS6 does look pretty damn good. Slight drop makes it look so much hotter too.

And if it's modded and tuned right, it can be FAST in both straight and corners.

3 days in a row of smoke cloud backing out of her driveway. This AP can't get here quick enough!

BTW JS, I started reading Abilor's Tooning Guide for Noobs. So far it's not only super informative but the guys hilarious! This mapping stuff might be funner than I originally thought.

Have you search through MSF to find an answer for your smoking issue?

And, yes, tuning threads are funny. Good reads for sure.

Oh yeah, I have searched on MSF and Mazda6Club. I'm 99% sure it's because I gutted my 2nd cat which opened up the exhaust reducing back pressure which in turn decreased the crankcase vacuum allowing the oil to seep past the seals in the turbo when ever the car is at idle and on an incline.

Before gutting the cat I only saw smoke once in the 6,000 miles I had the car and it was before I cleaned out the EGR valve and tube. After cleaning those it never did it again. I also put in Mobil1 5w40 on the first oil change.

I've gotten a cloud of smoke three times since gutting the cat and week ago. It's only when I'm backing out of our nanny's driveway. Just like most driveways in AZ it has a huge curb/dip at the end of it. I'm guessing what happens is when the car is at idle and at a slight incline now that there's less vacuum in the IM it allows the oil to flow back toward the turbo and it burns back out the DP through the exhaust.

More like funny how I can convince myself of things to tell my wife so she doesn't think I'm going to spend my money on my newly purchased car.

Actually the main reason for the AP is to fix the oil issue, the extra power it'll give me is just a nice plus.

Lol, same thing happened with my Accord.

"I want to keep this a nice comfortable daily driver ... "

Now I have nearly full bolt ons, rock hard track ready springs and stiff motor mounts.

Just sold the Tokico HPs and am close to selling the H&R Sport Springs.

After an attempt at installing the springs/shocks this weekend, I decided against lowering the car. Not only was the install a nightmare but I already scrape the front end going in and out of driveways.

Looks like it will stay a true 4x4.

Yeah the 2nd gen wheels look soooo good on the MS6. I came really close to getting a set but just couldn't justify the cost for a somewhat heavy set of wheels. I think I'll be happy with the RX8 wheels once I'm done refinishing them. I test sprayed the color I picked out this weekend and was really happy with the results.

Despite how nice the MS6 looks with an H&R drop it's just not feasible for me on a daily driving basis. It'll reck my front end in no time. If they ever come out with springs that have a conservative 1" drop I would consider going for it again.

BTW I ended up picking an OTS AP map and installed it on my car the other night. I can definitely feel a nice increase in performance especially up high in the RPM range. I'm going to request the ATR tonight so I can adjust my idle speed since I'm still getting the cloud every morning. I definitely want to play with a tune but not until I have the time to start logging so I can see everything that's going on. For now the OTS Stage 1+ map is working pretty good.

Make sure to datalog couple times to see if your car is working as it's supposed to. Don't go romp on it without checking it out first!

3rd gear WOT log from 3k rpm to 6.5 rpm

You really shouldn't have any problem with your fuel pressure with your mods and tune, but why not check it out to see if it's holding it fine.

I'll keep an eye out for you. I think there might be some springs that do 1" drop.

For me I want my drop to look like the Ms6 sort of.

Got ATR this morning and changed my idle speed to 950rpm. this fixes the smoke screen each morning. I also followed Abilor's Tuning Guide and made some very minor adjustments to the OTS Stage 1+ 91 map. Now that it's installed I'll start doing some data logs and see exactly what's going on. I'm definitely not ready to start messing the MAF, Fueling tables or anything like that yet. Just "fixed" the boost target to match the 75% open throttle. We'll see how it goes.

Thanks yo! The car feels completely different with the tune. And the best part... no smoke this morning!!! The higher idle even makes the car feel smoother. Overall the entire driving experience has changed for the better. Now I just need to monitor it to make sure everything's good. The only other engine mod will be an OCC.

Pretty cool, the Mazdaspeed6 made #2 on the list.

Ten cars that are faster than you think

2.) Mazdaspeed 6

Suggested By: Kiwi_Commander

Why it flies below the radar: We get why people buy Mazda 6s. They're fun-to-drive CamCord alternatives, but the average person doesn't expect to see much from them when things go high-speed. The 2005-2007 Mazdaspeed 6 isn't looks even more mundane than the sport-trimmed non-Mazdaspeed version... just before it races off into the distance.

How fast from 0-60? 5.4s
Says who?: Car and Driver

Finally laid some paint down on the RX8 wheels. Just need to clear them and get some new rubber.
