How much did you get on your trade, Navi, mileage? If you don't mind. I'm trading mine in next week too, but for another CLS.

No I didn't look at any other cars. This is my 4th Honda product in 5 years. For the money I think Acura's are the bomb!

Oh thanks for the info. They probably made some of that up on the other end. I've talked to 4 or 5 dealers for bids only, and they all offered me the same for my 6 speed, near blue book, or black book as they call it.

The auto TL disappointed me when it came to straightline acceleration. However, it didnt disappoint in every other area. I would def get the 6MT.

Manuals rock...it never gets old. If anything, driving an automatic gets old because it requires no thought.

I have had several of each and I can say, manual's do get a little old to me when the feel and precision of a new clutch/shifter start to go away. Especially in a car like the TL. I can see this car being much less fun to drive when the clutch starts groaning/chattering and the shifter gets less precise over time. It owuld be even less fun to have to put a new clutch in the thing ($$$$). Go drive a 4 or 5 yeard old Maxima and see what I mean. Of course, if you only keep the car 2-3 years, probably less of an issue. Just MHO.

well, i like to smoke and ride, so i dont need to think. On the other hand, ive driven with the ss and totally forgot i was doing it...seems like for some occasions each are funner....thats all.. and the auto is more practical for most people,.

Manuals are ghey. I'd rather not be doing lots of "thinking" while in traffic.

hey

Congrats dude. I did the same thing..traded in my 01 cls for a anthracite/ebony 6 speed. I love the car. The six speed is awesome..it makes the car so much fun to drive. As much as I loved my cls I love the TL 10 times more. Stereo, looks, ride, handling, power...and above all 6 speed! I cant believe this car has an invoice price of less than 30,000. It feels like a much more expensive car. I highly recommend it to all !

Don't give me any of that bullshit. You know damn well in constant heavy traffic driving a manual transmission can be a bitch. You don't even have to have driven one to see that.

Car looks great.

You have to have a front plate in IL right? I'd still say take it off and leave it in the trunk.

Any plans for some tint?

I wouldnt say automatics are for chicks...they have their place for sure-. But if you have always driven a manual it really is second nature...even in traffic. I usually just pop the car in neutral and cruise until I have to accelerate. I have always had honda/acura manuals and I think that helps. o wait I forgot about my datsun B210! Now THAT was a hassle in traffic but would you expect anything less from a 50 dollar car?

I would like to get a tint job but don't have a clue as to what is good and what is not. How about some insight.

Ill have to agree with chap on this, Im 22 also and can drive stick (i learned on a mustang when i was 17 and it wasnt easy) but having a stick in the tri state area sucks ass especially in bumper to bumper traffic. Id rather relax and watch my movies while i sit there for an hr not poping my clutch every other min. Driving stick is alot of fun but IMO it has to be in the right place and the right time. Thats why i want a 2nd car thats manual but with all my points its not looking like im gonna get that stang i wanted.

Without knowing how to drive a manual your input on what is difficult is irrelevant. I actually prefer a manual in traffic as I can keep it in a single gear. It is not a pain nor does it take any thought if you have experience.

Just so we're clear

automatic = boooooooring (dont give me that SS mode bs either, its lame)
6 speed = fun to drive and it takes some skill to do it right

The CL-S6 & TL-6 have a very light clutch and a VERY nice shifter. If the clutch was very high effort and the shifter was shitty I could see why someone wouldnt want to drive that manual trans in extremely heavy traffic.

And I'd rather replace a clutch every 75k miles rather than worry about the tranny blowing up every 30k miles, regardless if it is under warranty.
