New Lexus GS?
New Lexus GS?
Saw this article on Autofiend.com. Let's just say it looks like shit.

"They will come with a 3.5 liter V6 engine. The engine code is 453F and the specs are as follows: 280hp @ 6400 rpm, 238 lb-ft @ 4000. The 3.5 liter V6 engine seems weak for U.S. but it is strong enough for a small country with narrow roads."
The GS300 as is comes with 220hp/220tq and for a replacement i don't see this new V6 being all that weak.
BTW, the Aristo looks like ass.

The current GS is pretty hot. Can't remember if the 5.0 will be a v8 or v10 (probably a v8). I think they are working on the SC500 first. maybe one of our resident Lexus brothers can chime in.

That ain't it. Lexus is dropping the 3.3 liter V-6 from the RX in the next ES/GS 330/SC 330. No 3.5 V-6, too many engines.
Lexus INSISTS they will not enter the HP war. They did say the next IS will have a high-power version. Toyota feels that all that power just equals more stress on the car=more failing parts.

That's exactly what my friend said. He owns a Celica GTS and he said Toyota issued a press release saying that they are not in the market to make fast, sporty cars but to make reliable, safe ones instead.
Lexus GS330, GS350, and GS500? Great ideas. Okay, the 3.3L V6 should be the one currently used by RX330, so its output should be 230hp. If GS350 has 280hp, then I would say GS500 should have at least 350hp. But who knows, M-B E500 only has 302hp.
Yup...like someone said...a full size Prius. Lets hope it isn't tall and dopey like the Prius and is relatively low to the ground like the current GS. I really like the current GS but they have had that design for a while and probably feel like they have to change...
Lexus is excellent at hiding it's test cars. No one ever sees anything. But then again, I don't think anyone looks very hard (compared to new BMWs, Benzs and Porsches etc) We do know AWD will be an option on the next GS (and most all Lexus models) in the future. Also a hybrid GS will be offered not initially but in about 4 years.
Giugario styled the 1st gen GS and the 2nd gen was designed in-house. The 3rd gen will remain an in-house design.
