New Civic!!! Thoughts?

If this were a new engine, tranny etc., the price would jump but Honda really needs to keep this around 20-21k for it to sell well. 25k and you'll be in RSX territory and people aren't willing to pay that much for what you are getting.

Instead they give us the POS SI, which was a huge dissapointment. I'm a Honda fan just like you but I can't get excited about a FWD car with only 210hp when there are clearly better cars out there for the money.

like what? With what kind of reliability? Tuneability of this engine will make it a huge huge success.
Is this a Honda first for the Civic? I remember when the current Civic was still waiting to be released a few years ago, no one knew what the thing looked like until a few weeks before it was released.

Maybe with Tom Elliot OUT, Honda will get some life back in their Honda product lineup.
So long as the weight is kept in check (read: 2600lbs), 200hp should make this a very good performer.
For those who expect more power, it's probably unrealistic seeing as the RSX would probably get first dibs on a more powerful K20A (or even K24A).
Outside of using the same K20A2 that's in the JDM ITR and/or adding IMA, I dont think Honda will do much more.

I can see why your not excited, but I hope how you can see a 17 yr old kid would be.
I can see why your not excited, but I hope how you can see a 17 yr old kid would be.I like the TSX because of its handling, I like this new Civic because I'm sure they'l make it performance-orientated. I being a 17-year-old kid like it because for the money, it'l be a very fun car to drive. My demands for me liking a car are above average looks, great handling, good quality, and a fun drivetrain or chassis. Basically what I'm saying is, don't think this car will appeal only to 17-year-olds; my "17-year-old" friends tell me I act old because I'd take a 3 series over a G35, for example, but an enthusiast would know which car is better when pushed hard.
Please, don't take this like I'm arguing, I'm just saying that this new Civic Si should attract economic driving enthusiasts as well as the immature thoughts of a 2Fast2Furious 17 yr. old.
Keep in mind that this a K20 engine, easily modded to upwards of 230 hp without FI. It has a 6 speed manual and a limited slip differential.
All this... in a Civic.
The fact that it looks like a TSX coupe makes it even more desirable. I cant believe Honda kept this car under wraps for so long... considering how long it takes to design/prepare the tooling for a new car... the competition will be behind by several years.
Naysayers, keep saying nay. The rest of us don't care.

I say :whocares: As long as it handles somewhere between the RSX-S and TSX its a winner.
