New Civic!!! Thoughts?

The new Civic Si is being shown tomorrow in Chicago. What do you think? I really like it. Especially the picture of the Type R.......for Europe.

If that CIVIC comes with 210 HP...we're all going to get our asses kicked.

In addition, the 2006 Civic will be powered by the newest generation of Honda's i-VTEC engine technology to achieve even higher fuel economy and lower emissions. And a new Civic Hybrid will feature enhancements to Honda's IMA hybrid technology to achieve significantly higher fuel economy and performance. The natural gas Civic GX, powered by the cleanest internal combustion engine in the world, will continue to be made in Ohio.

....current Si hatchback, the first Civic to ever go straight to dealer incentives.
They'd better do something 'cause the 99-00 Si goes for the same retail as an 03-04 Si around here.

We all know what is under that cover will never be driven here in the states. We're gonna get some family friendly, gas friendly, environment friendly (ie ugly) civic like we got with the SI. Ive given up on the civic, specially after seeing the "Spied" shots in this monts Sport Compact Car.

Yeah I didn't like it too much either and I loved my old civic. I'd take a 99-00 Si over the new crap anyday

If they do bring a new beefed up Si it better come with 200hp then hopefully that will force Acura to beef up the RSX Type S too.

Indeed. I'm seeing a flash of Brembo calipers on the front rotors in Phile's pic.

Lets hope they grow some balls. And if in fact that is the TypeR or 200HP Civic which I think what your suggesting, thats promising since this is the car's world debut and its not likely to change much come September just like the TL and RL concepts revelaed at recent shows.

I just don't think its too much of a strecth for the Civc to have 200HP. Is pretty much the norm now with the 200+ HP Neon's and GM's running around. Its that back end and rear quater panel styling that concerns me. Looks a tad busy as shown in these pics.

I think the 200hp K20A2 from the 02-04 RSX-S will suffice. It definitely beats the 160hp K20A3.

Looks good from what I can see, impressive. And I'm not a big civic fan. Wonder if Honda will hit a home run with this car.

That looks hot, you can still see a resemblence to the current gen SI hatch. But it looks like what a TSX coupe or the RSX should have grown into. The concept fits more in line with the current acura design theme. While the New RSX looks like an evolved integra.

Oooh...looks kinda like a shrunk down Accord coupe from the back and a TSX from the front. I like it. Hell, if the production version actually looks like that, I just may have to get one...

we all know the production car will look NOTHING like it. The exhaust, the rear wing, wheel gap etc will all change for production

omg yes.....it's a civic after all!! Remember much of the parts are already dev'd and available overseas just not in the USDM. New body, and suspension details haven't been given yet will give and indication of the price. If this were a new engine, tranny etc., the price would jump but Honda really needs to keep this around 20-21k for it to sell well. 25k and you'll be in RSX territory and people aren't willing to pay that much for what you are getting.

Im sorry Zap but I'm not impressed. 210 might have been good 3 years ago but now it just doesn't cut it. Honda should have brought the Civic R over years ago but blew it. Instead they give us the POS SI, which was a huge dissapointment. I'm a Honda fan just like you but I can't get excited about a FWD car with only 210hp when there are clearly better cars out there for the money.

I agree. I'm hoping that it will in some way be able to offer some comp to the Cobolt and the SRT-4.

Its competition is FWD. All with similar HP numbers I can see why your not excited, but I hope how you can see a 17 yr old kid would be.
