Thumbs up New Car Time !!! for a she ;)

A friend of mine, she is looking into getting a new/preowned car....

The things she is looking for (in BOLD are the main aspects):

Budget: $25,000 max
Mileage: The lower the better
Body style: Sedan/Coupe
Make: Doesnt matter !!!
Maintenance: Not toooo high

I suggested her to go with the 07/08 TL or the 04-07 TSX...

I dont have any experience with Lexus and any other brands. She doesnt want a Honda/Toyota (status issues LOL)

Any suggestions/advices/look outs/ are welcome !!!

Thanks !!!

At 25K she can reasonably have just about anything she wants, preowned.

Factors:
If she wanting kids in the near future of hang out with her other 2-3 friends often? If so then I'd go with a sedan, like a TL, IS250, G35 or an A4.

If she is that girl that doesn't have girlfriends then she'd impress the boys with a nice coupe. G35 Coupe, 3 Series... She could probably get a brand new, pretty well equipped Accord Coupe for 25K if she could get over the badge thing.

I have a feeling that she'll pick the car that's the right color

wanting maintenance costs to be low and wanting a non honda/toyota/mazda etc is not going to work. generally, any time you buy a near luxury or luxury nameplate the maintenance costs are going to be higher so just make sure she knows what she is getting into. if she can't afford to maintain something, then she never could have afforded it in the first place.

that being said, TL, TSX, IS, G would all be on my short list if i had a 25k budget and wanted to stay away from appliances with relatively low/perceived maintenance costs. obviously, all imho.

Last Sunday, I picked up a 2010 Altima 3.5SR V6 sedan for my mom for less than $24k OTD. These vehicles are fairly low maintenance and for 2010 the VQ35DE engine has been retuned for 87 octane as well. Also, Nissan recently doubled the warranty on the CVT to 10-yr/120k, so that eliminates a lot of worry.

Not trying to be a jerk but if she doesn't want a honda/toyota for status issues, something tells me nissan isn't fitting the bill either. Guarantee she gets a 3 series

Dunno, my mom refuses to drive another Honda or Toyota, yet she was willing to drive a Nissan. Strangely, she has issues with the brand images of Honda and Toyota, but not Nissan.

what i mean is, for example my TL (if the modding bug hadn't bit me). In the past 3 years of ownership....10 oil changes (yes i drive a lot), 1 new set of tires, brakes...thats all....so if you add it up wasnt really expensive....now only if my car payments said that same story

yeah those puppies look real good too....and i think nissan does come off as a luxury brand...it carries a little more status than the honda badge....how is the car thus far ???

Lexus IS250... reliable affordable chickmobile

Only reservation is that you live in Kansas City where it snows a lot, so she may want FWD or AWD (meaning TSX or IS250 AWD)

I only have a little less than 9K on the clock so I can't really speak on the maintenance. It's "normally expensive" for a stealership. The service experiences have been good.

I would recommend the 06 6MT tsx. Mine has 96,000+problem free miles. Test drove the Lexus IS-250- not impressed-cramped with not as many goodies.

Thanks a lot guys for the responses....well she loves my car....and ended up with guess what....a SSM 3G TL !!!!

so here is how it went....there was a NBP 3G with Aspec lip kit on it and NAV....and i was like take it....and priced pretty well....18K, at 68K miles....but not Certified preowned, which was fine....at that price we could buy the warranty !!! but guess what....in an accident.....big NO NO, no matter what the salesman told me....

so well there was this SSM TL....06....60K miles....certified preowned....no aspec lip kit, no accidents....no damages....very clean car....didnt have navi thow....priced at 21K....i started thinking the cons of the car for negotiation....told him no all season mats, he said he will put em in....told him no trunk tray, he said he will put it in.....bitched about the leather being bad LOL....chips on the hood (come on its a USED car LOL)....then the salesman told me something which made me win this battle.....he said "THE 2006 TL PUTS DOWN 256WHP"....i cracked up....am like a base wont dyno more than 215whp, and if it does....imma buy this car from u right now for 22K.....

i gave em an offer for 17.5K....bad and forth continued.....and ended up getting the car for 18,250.....plus he gave me $200 for referral LOL....
