New car help ( please !)!
Hey there forum ... I'm truly frustrated with my current search for a replacement for my recently totaled '11 Acura TSX- tech , thought that this would be a good place for advice ( ?)
I generally liked the TSX as a daily commuter and loved the ELS in the tech ( couldn't care less about the NAV )...but I did feel that at some point in time I began to question my initial "like" for this car . I generally attributed this to the 5 speed AT coupled with the 4 cyl ( HUGE 4 cyl). Style wise I really liked the interior and loved the expected reliability with the Acura as I had upgraded from an 04 Audi A4 ( wow - talk about a LIST of expensive problems )
So - I've identified a few cars out of the gate that I'm considering for a daily commuter [ ~30 miles/day ](occasional road trips) that I currently plan on having for 5-7 years :
14' Honda Accord Hybrid EX-L - Now ...I've NEVER purchased a new car and generally hate the notion in investing in a depreciating asset but this feels like an exception . Ride was ...well an Accord ..expect much quicker off of the line than I would have expected . Tech seemed ok (* Stereo kind of uninspiring ) , nice interior, LITTLE trunk but 48 mpg ...the MPG is the big thing for me here
13' Acura TL ( 3.5/2WD /AT /Tech) ...I skipped over an 11' TL because of the glaring beak / tail when I bought my TSX but liked the V6 . With the updated platform in Q2 of 2012 the TL became much more attractive , with better MPG ...even as a 2WD its a fun , reliable vehicle at a decent price. As a CPO I would get an addl year warranty as well . While its a few $K difference from the Accord Hybrid its still priced in the vicinity
13' TSX V6 ...I hesitate for some reason to move down this path , but mostly because its been really difficult to locate a V6 . Pretty certain I wouldnt jump back into a 4cyl TSX at this point . Still , the price point ( approx $3k less than the TL ) is attractive .
'12 BMW 3 series & '12 Audi A4 / A3 : I love the feel and look of these cars in general but I just cannot go back into the cost and ( anticipated ) unreliability with this current purchase . Both seem plentiful in the CPO market and actually priced fairly similar to the above options but I'm really trying to look the other way
'12 Infiniti G37 : I test one a while back and its not fresh in my mind to be honest ...but I do recall the interior to be really nice , fuel substandard , ride to be rough , a lot of noise , etc
'12 ATS/CTS (? ) - Haven't tested one- seen a lot of love but have no knowledge of these whatsoever
'13 Acura RDX : I actually just tested one ....and while not originally in the market for a crossover this really felt like a sedan ....although it was priced higher than any of the aforementioned here
I'd really like an opinion to help me with the next step(s)
...
I'd be open to any other suggestions as well ....
Thanks!

Welcome to Acurazine spoiler103.
I would first like to say that, as a car guy, I never think of a car as just a depreciating asset. Also, a car is not an investment unless it is a classic or exotic. Don't let the fact that new cars loose more value in the first couple of years detract you from purchasing new. You are not going to sell you car right after you drive off the lot. You are not likely to sell it within two years either. With all that being said, The Accord Hybrid is a bargain. However, if you are concerned about resale value, hybrids don't do well, resale-wise. While the technology is maturing, most buyers are afraid of the cost of battery and other major electronic component replacement. As of current, it is expensive. If you go this route I recommend the non-hybrid EX-L.
I think this is a great choice. It is an upgrade from your current vehicle, with more space. This seems like the logical choice, to me.
The TSX is a great car, as you know. If you get another TSX I think you would get bored with it sooner than later, being as though you had the almost exact same car before. I can see if you loved your TSX, but it doesn't sound like you did. I would scratch this one off the list.
As you know from your A4, these cars are expensive to keep. We just got rid of our X3 because of expensive repairs. See this thread https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...3&goto=newpost
As much as I love Audis and BMWs I say steer clear, especially from pre-owned ones. If you should decide to go this route, the extended maintenance plan is worth the money. If you want to go this route I say lease a new one, if that is an option.
Disclosure: I own a 2008 G37S Coupe. I still enjoy driving my car after all these years. After working out the "new car" kinks, it's been only services; no repairs. However it is rear wheel drive, so if you need front wheel drive this might not be the choice for you. I do recommend this car however.
I am not sure about these cars. All I know is that I love their designs. Inside and out, these cars look good. I'll let someone else chime in on these.
Do you really want a small crossover? If so, the RDX is just as good, if not better than any. I just think the RDX looks too much like a girl's car.

Welcome to the forum.
You are all over the place with the options.
I'm pretty familiar with B8+B8.5 A4 since we have been owning a 2010 A4 Avant for more than 4 years now. And I have been following Audizine for a long time.
2009-2011 A4s have no major issues except the oil consumption issue which can be permanently fixed with a simple dealer visit. Audi has been covering this cars that have been out of the warranty as well. Other than this, there are no other issues with B8/8.5 A4s.
I have spent literally $0 on our 2010 A4 Avant in terms of maintenance since we bought the car brand new back in 2009. And I bought the AudiCare package for like $400 which covers the maintenance work up to 45,000 miles.
No issues whatsoever with the car.
My 2000 Accord and 2005 TL had so much more issues than this car.
Just wanted to share my personal experience. Other cars, I have only test driven those cars so don't have much input.
