The X3 Needed a New...
Well, you know where this is going. With much angst we traded in our 2007 X3 Sport for a 2014 Grand Cherokee Limited. To make a long story short, we loved our X3. It is truly a drivers car. Since we had the sport model with the painted body moldings and 19 inch staggered wheels we enjoyed its sporty appearance as well. We got rid of this vehicle because the frequent, and very costly repairs were a constant drain on our bank account, not to mention our time. I'll never buy another BMW.
We've had the GC for less than 24 hours, but as any new owner would tell you, we reeaally like this vehicle. Great ride, great tech, interior looks great (except the plastic on the center console), and the exterior styling is great. Basically, this vehicle checks all of the boxes for us. We've had our eye on this vehicle for quite some time. I've always heard that Jeep quality is not that great, but trust me, it cannot possibly be worse than our X3. I've read some reviews on the 2014 GC, and watched some videos and I think we'll be good with the quality of this vehicle. Time will tell. As for now I can't wait to take it on a road trip.
Basically it is a Limited trim with the 20" five spoke wheels. It is a dark greyish - blueish color Jeep calls "Maximum Steel Metallic" (gotta love paint names). The interior is black with light grey stitch. No pictures yet. It's a cloudy morning, and it is going to rain today. I'll post pictures later.

Congrats on your purchase
My wife and I ordered a 2014 Limited also - we got the LUX II package and the 20" wheels. Supposed to be delivered to us tomorrow.
I've also been reading quite a lot about Jeep not being so reliable, but it was a great deal for a great car.
Good luck with yours
Any plans for mods?

I just did the Bluetooth pairing. It's the easiest I've ever done. Contacts uploaded and all took about three button presses and the process was less than a minute. Sweet.

- Broken cup holder (if you've owned a BMW, you know how flimsy, but cool they are)
- Factory headrest monitors had to be plugged back in (x2), because when the headrest was raised the plug inside of the the seat detached, because there is no slack in the cable, nor a locking connection. Really?
- Wiper arm cover for rear wiper just fell off. We actually got charged for that.
- Driver side seatbelt unbuckled by itself intermittedly. Happened five times in one day.
- Replaced panoramic roof glass and rail because when we hit a bump the roof would jump up.
- Had a really bad transmission issue, IIRC they replaced the rear diff and reprogrammed the transmission to fix. This took a few dealership visits before they fixed this issue.
- Replaced leaking valve cover gasket
- Replaced faulty thermostat
- Replaced faulty valve cover
- Replaced faulty ignition coil
- Replaced starter (that was "fun" when my wife needed to get to work and the car would not start.)
- Replaced faulty water pump
- Replaced leaky oil filter housing gasket
- Replaced faulty driver's side window regulator
- Replaced flaking headlight gaskets
- Before we traded it, it was leaking coolant again (overflow tank needed replacing, and the driver's side indicator on the front quarter panel went out).
That's not everything, but the big or annoying things. You would think that this car was over 10 years old... Oh, I actually had to add a quart of oil to the car once. That reminded me of older cars; like the 70's. What modern car needs a quart of oil?? Anyway, needless to say, I've had a pretty bad ownership experience.

P.S. some modern engines still burn oil.
. My friend had an internship at BMW a few years ago and said that a car came in extremely overfilled. Apparently the sensor that detected low oil level went bad and kept the low oil light on, and since there was no dipstick the owner just kept adding it. My friend told me when it got to BMW NA oil was was just coming out from everywhere.

Thanks for the reminder to never buy a BMW, hope you have good luck with the GC as Chrysler's don't have the best reputation for reliability, but even if it's a dud for a Jeep it'll seem better than the BMW. Can't lie I like the last 2 generations of the GC a lot, I'd love to have an SRT8 version.
Now that's ridiculous

I've heard about those oil level sensors failing before. My dad's car I think went into limp home mode due to lack of oil. It's a lease so he couldn't careless. Just a PITA (hence why he keeps oil in the trunk now), but he still loves driving it.
I think if it was any other brand no one would tolerate it for some reason BMW gets a pass.

Congrats!

ly on the road.

I've had to add a quart once between my oil changes.
