new car
Alright...I'm new around here, but I've been lurking for a while, thanks to my brother (revitup). Here is what I need...I am looking for my first car but I only have 10,000 to spend on it and I really want an Acura. For the most part, however, I'm open to suggestions, whether for an Acura or another car.

not that I don't already know, but what kind of stuff is a must for your car, & what kinds of thing do you not want on it? You're kinda limited on that 10K budget, but you can get some nice cars...
More info, please

You could get a used RSX for that price... For a first car, I'm guess a coupe is ok and that you don't need a sedan...
Lots of CL 6spds with some mileage on 'em for around $10K. I just posted a couple in our "cheap 6spd" thread:

They're on the east coast, but that's just an example of what's out there...
I think the CL 6spd is one of the best bangs for the buck out there on the used car market. It's 5 years old now, so it's hit the part of the depreciation curve where it's not going to lose much value from year to year (~$1K per year). It's got 260Hp, so it's powerful enough to get you in trouble, and has enough luxury so you'll ride in style. Gets decent gas mileage too...
If you still want an acura and want to spend less then $10K, look for a 1st gen CL (1997-1999)...

"slower" may be good for him - he's 17 & too many kids are killed by having a "faster" car they can't control. I don't know if they know much about the repair costs, but it seems like every car on the road is super-expensive to fix.
Anyone else?

I'd steer clear of that car...
However, if you like that design, check into a 02 S60 T5 5Spd or a S40 1.8T. Both fun to drive (turbo) and safe for first car...and could probably be had for 10k. Check out swedespeed.com for more info on those cars.

If you are paying for your own car insurance, go ask your insurance agent which car to get. Under 21, your insurance will could cost as much if more than your car note depending on what car you get. That would be my first stop!
For a first car I'd say get a 1st generation CL or TL. They're old enough at this point to be fairly cheap but still reliable. You don't want something like a Legend (most are too old at this point) and you don't want an Integra (dated design and often stolen).
RSX insurance is going to be through the roof for a young driver.

Goes down twice for guys once at 21 and once at 25. For girls just at 21. Point being that under 21 and a guy your pretty much fugged if you are paying for your own insurance and don't research the insurance prices before your purchase...
