New $35,000 Car Decision
I am looking into trading in my 2006 TSX for something new. I am trying to spend close $35,000. Right now I have a few cars in mind.
1. Lexus IS250
Pros: Less than $35K, good looks, reliability.
Cons: About the same hp as TSX, a little cramped inside.
2. BMW 328i Coupe
Pros: Sexy, no maintenance fees under warranty.
Cons: Its no 335i, high price.
3. BMW 135i
Pros: Twin turbo power, no maintenance fees under warranty.
Cons: Not so sexy, gets pretty pricey.
4. Acura TL Base Nav
Pros: V6 power, Acura reliability, like the looks.
Cons: Style changing very soon.
5. Acura TL Type-S
Pros: Bigger V6 power, reliability.
Cons: Once again, style changing very soon.
What would you all do?
Any other suggestions for that price?
Thanks

Sorry for being OT --- Just curious, when everyone says "no maintenance fees" for BMWs while under warranty...Does that just mean you don't pay for oil changes for the first xx years, or does it actually cover anything special?

I would say get a TL-S MT. Even though I like the mighty torque power of G37, I still think that TL has the most balanced mix of luxury, sport, and else... You can get some great deals on TL-S these days as well..
my
IS250 = slower than your current ride..
328 = no 335..
135 = no 335..
TL base = no TL-S..

I have thought about the Infiniti G37 but there is somehting about the rear end that I don't like too much. I am going to test drive a few cars tomorrow and maybe I'll try it out.
The 335i is way too much $$$. At my local BMW dealership they have a 328i for $39,000 and the 135i is $41,000. I would probably have to order what I wanted to get the price down.
Ive thought about the EVO X but two of my friends have already traded their TSX's for X's. I don't want to be a copycat
Why get rid of the TSX? Well, as you can see by my sig, I don't keep cars very long. It is a very bad habit
I've considered a Prius with the gas prices but the styling is really killing it for me.

1. Keep TSX.
2. Put $$ in high-yield CD, savings bond,.. whatever.
3. Save up.
4. Get 335i in a few years.

You can get a great deal on a TL-S right now. But my vote is for the G8
Pros - enough torque to unearth a tree trunk, BMW agility at a Pontiac price
Cons - expect 19 mpg or less if you have a heavy right foot
Simply put the G8 is one of the best performance bargain out there right now. You can also wait for the G8 GXP which will have a 6-speed manual and an LS3 under the hood. A TL-S won't save you that much more gas over a G8 GXP.
The S2000 is my second choice.... the shifter is so precise and is one of my favorites. Trust me.... drive an S2000 with the top up and down, its almost like its a different car top down. Nothing beats the feel of open top motoring. Except the practicality of an affordable sedan with RWD, a ridiculous amount of torque AND thats available with a manual tranny. The G8 GXP will stand out in the market, being the only car like it. The Charger doesn't have a manual transmission option, the 550i costing more by quite a large margin, etc.
I make $11 an hour with bonuses and spend a bunch of money on stuff I'm not supposed to not to mention pay all my bills excluding rent and if I can afford it without bitching.... then gas prices should be the least of your problems. The engine in a car shouldn't be a deterrent... it should be an incentive.

I've heard BMW ups the warranty to 100k on CPO car, although I'm not exactly sure what that covers

JDM Laser Fogs!
I would say for the best overall packages: TL-S 6spd
For pure power: (not caring about gas price)
Mercedes Benz C55 AMG (used)
BMW E46 M3 (used)
Pontiac G8 GT (new)
Cadillac CTS-V (used and actually less than 35k)
Audi S4 (used)
These are just some off the top of my head.

Someday, an RS6 Avant+
My order of preference at that price point:
1. Audi A4/S4 (new/used)
2. Subaru Legacy GT Spec B (save a little)
3. Caddy CTS-V (used, or off-lease)

If you can live with a 328, you can live with a BMW 128. I am convinced that if you test drive one, you'll forget the name 'Acura' in an heart beat.
The IS250 is a lost cause. I love the way the G35 drives, but can't stand both front and rear ends.

^ If hes bored with the TSX then im sure he would get bored with an Accord.
Seriously, if you bored then switch from Acura since you already been there, done that.
Buy slightly used cars if you going to keep switching so often. Unless you can get a ridiculous low rate on new.

TL-S if you don't want to worry about maint. for a good while. As much as I love BMW, I wouldn't buy a first year model, no matter how good it is I also wouldn't waste my time praising one that isn't a ///M or now the 35. The IS250 I drove was the AWD version, but based on that....that car sucks in everything but comfort.

I'd say if you like driving... get the 135 but one thats worth it will sticker around $37.5k with:
Base MSRP $34,900
Alpine White $0
Black Leatherette $0
Glacier Silver Aluminum Trim $0
Sport Package $1,100
18" wheels w/performance tires (style 264) $0
Destination & Handling: $825
Total MSRP as Built $36,825
You won't have any options really but it'll be damn fun to drive.
I rock a 328 and its fun and peppy but not a 335. Plus if you want a coupe then its base price is over the $35k mark. a 328i coupe w/ ZSP (sports package) is gonna run you like $37.5k or well equipped with premium package for about $40k.
You can save about $2400 if you get a 328i sedan.
You could always lease a 335....
or you could PM me and I'll sell you my 328

I'd be more likely to buy an 04-05 330i ZHP like i should have in the 1st place and throw a supercharger on it. 330hp w/ 8psi of boost
