NBP '05 TL Owner... LSx 240 pics-haha
I was looking for a "N00b" thread or intro section but didnt see one.
I just recently (8days ago haha) purchased a 2005 NBP TL after my DD crapped out (1995 GMC Jimmy haha)
First off, is it just me or does it sometimes look like its a VERY dark blue?!
I found this place while looking for a way to wire up an AUX IN through my XM receiver box thing and then found a few threads and figured id join when i saw that there is SOME sort of interest in the stock wheels I have laying around.
Well, since everyone knows what a stock black TL looks like here figured Id post my other project...
This is her when I first purchased her.
Then an injector messed up so I went and decided to get serious lol
Finished up and now shes getting ready for the big HX55 install before spring gets here.

Welcome to AZ and wow, what a project.
What are you looking to do with the car, drift it or take it to the dragstrip? As an LSx owner, I LSx swaps.

Itll be a drag car. Its an auto (first 5.3 and 4L80e in a 240). Although Im working with MegaShift (from those who brought you megasquirt haha) and wiring it up to paddle shifters, so Im sure itll drift here soon since I am actually relatively involved with the midwest drift union guys.
I will say though that since its a 2600lb car without HVAC and P/S, I will certainly enjoy occasionally driving the TL in the summer... Its the "fanciest" car Ive ever owned and I absolutely LOVE it so far. Looking into an aftermarket sub/amp, footwell lighting, and wheels/drop and then im done with it. NOT touching it anymore. haha

heres the TL. Been checking out the Wheel thread to try and find something that looks good, I usually prefer 17s but it seems most go 18s and 19s on theres. Trying to see if coils are worth it since S Techs look to drop them enough.

Welcome and congrats on the TL purchase!
Quite a project you have on your hands with the 240. Best of luck
As for the S-Techs, I have a set on my TL and I like them. The front sits a little lower than the rear but I'm just a perfectionist haha. Eventually I'll get coils for the adjustability but I'm having a hard time justifying putting more money into a depreciating asset.

The goal will be to hit 4digits. Luckily the turbo was cheap because I just paid for the fuel system recently and I WAY undershot the cost haha.

Are you going to paint it?

I keep trying to convince my wife that we need a project car in the garage...she keeps reminding me that 45 years old, married and couldn't finish the last project car I owned!
Enjoy the 240!

As far as the TL, you want to post in this sub-forum: https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/
But you're definetly in the right section for your project car.

The front bumper on the 240? eh, I think it gives it character lol I would like it to be black, but honestly the build process takes up so much money that paint is one of my last concerns.

I don't want to derail the thread with pictures of my car but here are a few. Keep in mind that I'm on 18" wheels and the stockies are 17".
Crazy wide angle lens but you can see the gap between the tire and the fender pretty well...
The springs are on stock shocks and have probably close to 80k on them. They ride fine and I have no complaints!
Hope that helps!

Shut up you!
Just kidding. Yeah I didn't know the picture was being taken when I walked by
Anyways, wheels are 18x8.5, tires are 235/40/18. The wheels have a +45 offset but thanks to spacers I'm running +30 up front and +25 rear. Rolled rear fenders.

The TL might look familiar haha.
and with those tire sizes on an 18 yours are only a 1/4" bigger... so youd have an 1/8" of the wheel well more filled than my tires. I think I could deal with that for $150 as opposed to >$600 for coilovers haha.
The wheels im running for now are 17x7.5 with +22mm offset. i tested them out and they sit "flush enough" so ill probably just roll springs and those wheels until the project car is done.
Just finished wiring in my AUX cable... that was a WHOLE lot easier than I thought itd be haha. thanks AZ for the help!

Thats literally all thats done to the TL, lowered it and put Vette wheels on it. Will do tint and coilovers at the end of winter, but thats about it.
The 240 is actually kinda making reverse progress at this point. Taking things off, so they can be replaced with better shit. Going for 1100hp so I can actually be some competition at the TX2K13 event.
