so the other day I was on i95 north right before the fork to the delaware memorial bridge on my way to the hospital for work, when a dumbass swerves out in front of me, causing me to slam my brakes and swerve onto the on ramp of the bridge. (he mustve realized at the last second he was going to miss the bridge). so then long story short I had to drive through the city of wilmington to get back onto i95. i knew the lights in wilmington are timed in a chain so that if you go about 35 they turn green and you dont have to hit the brakes. i was doing 40 right when i saw the on ramp to 95, and right then i noticed the light hadnt turned green. so i floor it and close my eyes and im yelling hoping no one hits me. light turns green a second after i cross the line. fml now i gotta pay $110 all because that s***head decided he would swerve across 4 lanes without looking next to him.

You'll have one long late-time- fat chance fighting that type of ticket. I guess your defense would be an unusually 'long' yellow light interval for the opposing traffic which doesn't have a prayer of winning. Cities are beginning to catch a clue and are extending yellow light intervals because it was too easy to fight RLC tickets on that argument.

I don't understand why you couldn't coast a little bit and possibly stop and wait for the green. It's not like you were driving that bus in 'Speed' in which it was going to blow up if you stopped.

Hate those GD red light cameras. Safety aside, it's a revenue generator for the local township. Unfortunately the constitutionality of these traps has been up upheld by most courts. BS IMHO. Lets charge everyone with a crime when it is committed on camera then. Sidewalk spiters beware.

However I know some of the cameras can be BS to an extent, like a traffic jam and you're stuck in the intersection, those should be lifted, but as OP's case, he deserved it.

i dont think anyone understands what actually happened here. there were about 10 lights on the one road, and they are timed about 5 seconds after one another. you drive the speed limit and they change about 10 ft before you get to the line. i was driving a little over the speed limit, and passed the line a few seconds before the light went green. the light on the otherside was already red at this point. and no im not trying to fight it or say it wasnt my fault, im just saying it sucks how i was only like a second or 2 early to the light and got the ticket

Clue here: you could lightly drag the brakes to slow a little, to say, speed limit perhaps, to avoid the risk of crushing someone else that might have been going through the intersection.
