What a great evolution of a design, everything is just rounded better in all the right places.

It sorta looks like a heavy mid-model refresh...esp. from the outside. The redesign definately isnt very striking...for example the 2nd and 3rd gen TLs had very distinctive changes..

I like evolutionary redesigns, I think it's important for manufacturers to have a strong brand identity with their cars and also think it's indicative of them having successful designs that age well. When you look at some of the tier one brands almost all their cars have very similar styling cues, like Mercedes, BMW, Porsche, etc. So maybe the new G looks similar to the old one but I don't think that's a bad thing; they upgraded where it counts. (I mean look at the interior differences.. that '06.. YUCK; and to think that was an improvement over the '03/'04).

This is true and I see where you are coming from, but even when MB/BMW do a model redesign, the changes are usually very radical. (IE, the new S/CL class, the current shape 7 series etc etc) However, Porsche as well as Jaguar tend to have less drastic changes on their redesigns...hell the Jag XJs looked the same for like 10 years...and still look damn similar. I guess each manufacturer has a different idea, and they all sell well so it comes down to a matter of consumer preference...

It was the G35 that pulled Infiniti out of trouble when it was released back in 02. The G35 has sold extremely since then and has accounted for one third of all Infiniti sales. Needless to say, it has been Infiniti's bread and butter the last few years. Because the G has been such a success, I think Infiniti didn't want to stray too far from it's original design. They made some subtle changes on the outside while completely revamping the interior (which was badly needed), and throwing in an updated VQ for good measure.

If this is your bread & butter ... sales aren't bad near the end of your product cycle ... why mess with a good thing? Just fix what you *have* to fix (ie interior) ... don't screw your resale value on your 1st gen models ... everybody wins.

i don't mind radical or slight changes in redesigns, as long as they look nice.

so with the g35, i think it works. it still resembles the previous generation, but when you see the two models next to each other, you notice the difference right away.

with that said, OP, your car is hot. never was a big fan of red cars, but yours works. i like seeing the pics of your two g's next to each other. personally, i think the 07 is so much more aggressive looking. the headlights are just mean.

the interiour is well-designed, and the seats look so comfortable. and i wish acura would take a note from infiniti's wheel designs. the g35s and m35/45 sport wheels are two of my favorite oem wheels.

congrats!

That's cool bro. There isn't single car on the planet that appeals to everyone. I can honestly say that the IS350 does nothing for me.........to each their own right?

Exactly, it would be pretty boring if everyone had the same car.

What do you guys think about these two body kits? I'd be very tempted at getting the Kenstyle if it was available here now. IMO, it's just downright sexy!

Thanks for the picture comparison!

I like the evolution, but maybe because I've been used to change designs myself. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

All you guys can relate to this story when Honda went from the 6th gen Accord (1998-2002), which to me was hot both the coupe and sedan to the 7th gen Accord (2003-2007) bodystyle. That is the worst bodystyle change I've ever seen!!
