Why? makes sense. Just like your insurance isn't going to cover you at the track....

No auto manufacturer does it... but a parking lot with cones is a bit extreme to cut the warranty.

how would they know? the write down your vin number and license plate when you go autoXing? or are they like a paparatzi hiding behind trees trying to catch you?

From the thread it seems there is a way they can tell, plus a lot of the hardcore SCCA'ers let you know with their decals, class markings and numbers permanently attached to the car.

I thought the WRX and STi came with complimentary one year memberships to the SCCA, and I think the motor could be pused much harder during daily driving than an autox, it really is much like a parking lot with cones...the car should not even be breaking there...

You're right. But then Subaru voided the warranties on WRX owners who used their WRX to participate in said SCCA competitions, even though the memberships were acquired through Subaru. I guess they were thinking, buy the WRX and then use your beater for SCCA races. d---wads one and all!!

that's what they did w/ the vette guys a few years back, they'd go to autox and DE events and write down vins

Pretty fucked up if you ask me. They give you a performance car but don't let it perform? They'd rather have you do it on the street?


I understand not touching modded cars, but voiding a warranty because you auto'x is BS to me

I hope Honda doesn't do this, I just had my first autox and I'm addicted now. S2000 is an autox beast.

This may sound alarmist but has anyone reviewed OEM conditions for warranty coverage? I wonder if there's any clause(s) that would void the warranties due to traffic infractions. :sqnteek:
