might replace the rl

i was going thru some figures the other day b/c my fiance and i are going to buy a house within a year and a half. since i pay 475 a month now for my rl, i can actually sell it for around 20-22k, b/c it only has 40,000 mile for a 2000.

i would like to get my payment down to less than 250 per month. even if i refinanced it thru the credit union next year for a new 5 years it would still be around 375 per month.

so after talking to my wise uncle, he mentioned that usually when you buy a house the cars usually come second, b/c of the house expense.

i mentioned the situation, and he agreed.

so the cars i considered 1st were the 03/04 accord or camry, just so i have a 4 door. yes i know, going from an rl to one of thos, but i don't even drive it in the winter anyway.
i was looking for something less than $14,000, so i did a search on the 02 tl and found a few. i did not realize that i could possibly find someone who is desperate to get rid of their tl with say 60k on the clock.

what other cars would be available for 14k or less that might be an option, keeping with the 4 door theme.

suggestions, or comments from peeps who may have done the same thing

i am trying to stay with the japanese cars, and low maintainance.
i have owned 3 nissans 2 toyotas 2 hondas and 2 acuras, and have never had major issues.

plus i will prob have kids in the near future so something not so high performance would be good.

i am prob thinking the 02 tl if i can find one for that cheap

i really like the accords, but if you can get a good deal on a TL, then i'd do that.

Sell it quickly before the new model comes out and destroys what resale is left. I say a 98 GS 300 or if u look real hard GS 400. Or a 528 with sport package.

The Mazda 6 will be my next car.

I think they are a bargain for what you get and they look much better than an Accord.

that i thought of, i found quite a few rl's for the price but 97/98 tl's seem to be scarce,
es looks too plain inside. the new 03/04 accord can be had for 14k

I see you will not prefer a Nissan as a first choice, but you should comsider a 01 Maxima SE 20th Anniversary, or even a regular SE. Those cars are nice !
