I'll have to go grab the article for the exact #'s but I think it was this Months Motortrend

90% of cars in the US are Autos, while like 80% in europe are Manuals. I think japan favored the manuals as well.

SMG is faster than pure MT. i dont know if you would call SMG an auto, though.

would a jericho transmission be an auto or a manual?

well anyhow , MT for me is tons of fun.... but the only thing i dont like is that in jersey there are tons of hills where there are traffic lights. it gets annoying when your every other red light is at a steep incline in an MT...

I'll have to drive one for at least one day and probably a spirited drive before I can decide whether I like the SMG/DSG or not. I test drove an A3 with DSG. It was pretty cool that it shifted quicker than normal AT, and the fact that it blipped the throttle on every downshift. However, the lack of a clutch pedal still makes me feel a bit awkward. It's still felt like an AT to me.

all my cars are mt.... and i live in LA.... i am used to it.... driving stick in traffic doesnt really bother me besides i dont have to brake as much.....

when there is no traffic, MT is pretty the same as auto...

"MT sux in traffic, sux for daily driving" is just a general assumption/excuse for ppl who dont drive MT

Sorry, friend. It's just that growing up in the 60's, I used to hear that term from some people of a certain political bend. It used to irritate me to no end, though in my teen years, I tended to be amongst that same political persuasion. Having grown up and come to find that the ignorance of youth is real, I appreciate my country, my fellow Americans, and my good fortune for having been blessed to have been born here.

Hope you understand.
