Magnetic Oil Plug: Where to find?

Last time I was in Walmart getting an oil change, it appears one of the hired hands took my after market oil plug I have had with the car since I got it in 2001.

I spoke to the manager. I told him I don't care about the details or who might have took it and why. I just want it replaced. This was last week. I haven't heard back from him. He said he would try to search and find out where to get one.

Anybody have a website for these?

Bring a magnet with you or buy those $2 magnetic pickups at those automotive parts stores (Autozone, Kragen's, Winchester Auto, etc.) then when you go to the parts counter, tell the guy to get a magnetic drain plug for you, or just ask for the one for your car.... then use the magnet to verify magneticity.

Yes I made that word up

I thought magnetic drain plugs were available in most auto parts stores- domestic cars only??

Google search came up with:

Not to be an ass, but why would you ever get your oil changed at walmart?

^^^

A lot of people do. Personally, I would either do it myself or have a mechanic do it, but I would probably do Walmart over Jiffy Lube.

By the way, are these any good? Are they worth buying?

I do it myself for my explorer or my fiancee's neon. The CL is done by me also or goes to the dealer if I don't feel like doing it. They only charge a few bucks more than walmart.

My fiancee always took her neon to walmart before she met me. They always used their Super Tech oil and filter.

I may look into it since my car is getting up there in miles. I do my own changes now, so I won't have to worry about someone throwing it out.

Walmart FTMFL. My fiancee used to take her Corolla there for oil changes, that was until I disovered her oil filler cap sitting on top of her valve cover instead of being put back in it's place after driving home from getting her oil changed. Ever since then I changer her oil for her. Costs less and I know it'll be done right.

This can happen anywhere. You yourself could forget to put the cap back on(changing the oil on one car every 3 months would make it unlikely but it could happen). When you change the oil on 100 cars a week, the chances of it happening go up. Not defending Walmart, but I know of Acura dealers who have made this same "Jiffy Lube" mistake.

I would say unless you do it yourself, you should always check the oil cap after having your oil changed. That's the only way to know it's on there

I had one on my 94 GSR, and 05 RSX-S, and it did collect metal shavings. So they work, and I am in the process of ordering one for my TL-S as well. Every little bit helps to prolong engine life.

Ok I can see the gears turning in your head right now thinking the plug just magnetically sticks in the hole. Its just like any other plug except it has a magnetic tip. There is nothing to not trust except for the price

Ok I think I am going to get a magnetic oil plug for my 06 Si since I do my own changes. Any good place to get them and anything to look for to make sure it is a good one? eBay?
