Lowering springs with stock struts?

Just wondering what you guys think about it. I would probably go with the eibachs on the stock struts and just rock the stock rims.

Think that the stock struts (with unknown milage anywhere from 20,000-153,000) would be quicker to give out, or think I would be alright?

This is for my 1G TL

i put eibachs on stock shocks on my legend.

they've lasted me a good 10k miles since i put them on so far. The ride could stand to be better, but the shocks haven't gone out on me yet.

The only reason I did it however, is because i bought the eibachs already mounted on stock shocks so it would be more labor to take them off. Also I bought the extra set of stock shocks basically for free so even if they did go out, i'd have my originals. and since i did the labor myself, it wouldn't be a waste of money to do it again.

In general, i'd recommend getting new shocks to avoid having to redo everything again in the future. better to do it all at once.

I put CT springs on my CLS 6MT at 4k miles. After several thousand miles, my OEM struts started to wear out. I then put koni yellows on at 10k miles. The ride quality was better with the CT springs and koni as compared to the CT springs and OEM struts.

In retrospect, if I had it to do over again, I would have put the konis on when I first installed the CT springs. This would have saved me several hundred dollars in re-installment and 4-wheel alignment costs.

on my Z, I lowered it with springs and left the shocks stock... lasted for around 10k miles or so...now the bounce is returning so I'm going to order some koni's and install those with a buddy in a few weeks. When I had my CL, I had comptech springs with stock shocks, no issues at all. This is not an easy question to give a generall response. It all depends on what kind of aftermarket springs you have.

Travis, with that type of mileage on 'em, you're better off replacing 'em...

Even if you're going to do the work yourself, you'll be cursing if you have to change out the shocks soon after the spring install

Werd. Your stock shocks will wear out faster when you lower your car. Add that to the mileage and

Replace it all at once. Plus matching shocks with springs is the best way to go. Mis-matching stuff is wack yo.
