With all these retro looking cars (charger, camaro, challenger, mustang) where will they go from there? Like will they improve on the retro cars or go back to newer looking cars?

I was a bit dismayed that even Lamborghini is following the trend with the Miura...

For the Canadians: Word of advice -- do not drive your car over to Detroit. C$4 toll each way, US$10 parking ... just a headache. Park in a downtown Windsor lot (across the street from the bus station) and pay C$2.75 for the tunnel bus (which drops you off in front of Cobo Hall). The bus station also sells NAIAS tickets at a discount (usually US$12 at the door). Parking in the lot across the street is cheap (first hour is free) and you won't have many hassles crossing the border. Done this many times. Another thing -- eat before you go. Food at Cobo is gross and terribly expensive.
Have fun out there. And be sure to post pics!!! I'll have mine up on Wednesday night.

98clchick is at the autoshow now with some pre-opening thingy. She keeps texting me on how cool is it and showing me pics. What a tease!
Also she parked at the casino over there, so just go in and get your card validated inside and parking will be free.
Im going next week! I will also have pics!

I feel the need...
A colleague of mine got some comped supplier tickets and asked me to hop along so I snuck out of the office for a few hours this afternoon. I didn't have time to run home and grab my digital camera, but there are plenty of pics up already and mine would probably be redundant.
My random thoughts:
GM: A lot of Blah, same pigs dressed up with different lipstick. The new SUV's are nice, but not spectacular. In particular the new Escalade is hot, if you're into that sort of bling.
Ford: I really liked the new Lincoln MKS concept and hope they build it. The LR3 has been out a year now, but still looks great - a buddy of mine just got one and he loves it. The Mazda6 variants *Fusion/Milan/Zephyr look decent and will probably sell well but they still lack the panache and tactile feel of Honda's that you take for granted.
DaimlerChrysler: Wow - this company is really on a roll. The profile of the Imperial to a casual observer could be mistaken for a Rolls Royce NFK! If they price this baby right, it will sell in droves. The Jeep lineup is getting a bit stale and they need to firm up some strange styling on their new crossovers. Typical gaudy Merceds on display, new GL looks fine and they had a ton of SUV's on display. S500 looks overwrought to my eye, but I'm sure people who are looking to purchase one won't care.
Honda: Breezed through pretty quickly, took a quick look at the new Civic Si - cool, but I've outgrown the segment. Itching to see what the new CRV will look like, but nothing there to see. I was amazed at how small the RDX looks like up close, YES it is as small as it appears. Eyballing it, probably at least two inches lower to the ground than my wife's '05 CRV. I'd bet that the hip point is at least two inches lower too, couldn't get inside to see though. They had the TSX A-Spec Concept (same one at SEMA) on display and it looks friggin' HOT! I would pass on the dual exhaust routed down the middle, but otherwise I'd buy on in a split second.
Toyota: New Camry on display, didn't spring me. Very safe design. I've always been disspassionate on most of their cars however. FJ Cruiser, not my cup of tea. The new LS will sell like hotcakes, very sharp. If the IS had been on sale the same time I'd been in the market, I probably would have bought one. Only caveat is that the rear seat is significantly tighter than my TSX.
Nissan: Ran through this section quickly, not much new. Forgot to take a peak at the Versa. Not a big fan of most of their cars, do like the G35 though and they had a softly redesigned one on display at a weird angle.
Ferrari: HOT MODELS, different than the ones at the beginning of this thread. Yowzer! They also had a new model on display outside of the main floor, but I forgot the name - very nice.
I went last year, so I didn't spend a ton of time browsing. It was very cool to go on a day that was closed to the general public though, much more space to move around and no lines to sit in the vehicles.

I'm glad my city is somewhat 'net friendly.
I think they had a promo -- round-trip bus ticket (C$2.75 each way) + NAIAS ticket = C$18 ... that was last time I went (40% exchange rate at the time)... don't know if they're doing that this year, but if they do, I would guess the deal would be about C$16 (~17% exchange rate).

Oh ... the bus station downtown shares the terminal with Greyhound, so it will be open early (7AM at least). If you're willing to go in early, be my guest!

Update: Transit Windsor is not giving deals if you buy a package (round trip bus fare + NAIAS ticket) -- C$19 for the combo ... you might save $0.50 doing this and the trouble of lining up for tickets.
