Looked Eclipse, Celica and RSX, bought 3.2CL
Hi guys
I have been reading this forum for a while (including other site for Eclipse and Celica). I have finally bought my birthday gift after a month 's research. That is Acura 3.2CL (2001).
I have tested drive all of above cars. I really like the looking of Eclipse and its power with V6. Interior is pretty good as well. I got good deal also (demo car with 5300 miles, the only Silver color I like). I would need to pay invioce - $1250 (rebate) - $1400 (demo). The thing I don't like is road noise, weak ABS and questionable reliability. I actually almost bought this car.
Celica has a nice exterior looking. The inside is small though. It lacks of power and easily deleted from my list.
RSX is OK looking car to me. Driving is quiet and powerful (base mode). I did test driving at one dealer. A brand new car (only 10 miles on it) had engine problem. The engine light kept on all the time. Whenever I accelerated the car to 4000 RPM, the car choked. The salewoman cannot believe it either. The dealer close my home gave me a decent deal. I also saw several 3.2CL in the lot and tested driving a dark green one (no Navi. base mode). I think I falled in love with her. Much better car in terms of handling, driving, comfortable and lux. I finally bought this car for $300 over invoice price (it is couple and sale was not as good as 3.2TL, that's the reason they discounted, I think. They also had a new manager started that day). Anyway, I think I made a good chioce especially for my age (37). If you buy RSX type S at MSRP, you could buy one of 3.2CL base with less than $1000 more. So I don't understand why buy RSX (3.2CL housepower is 225).
I highly recommend this dealer (Antonino Acura,340 route 184, Groton, CT 06340). They still have 4 RSX: 2 black (manu., leather), one white ( auto, leather) and one silver (cloth, auto). You wold need to ask Gary for a good price (you could get at least $500 off MSRP, try hard, you will get more). Good luck. Oh, their phone number is 860-448-1299.
Now my question is how to sharping 3.2CL and make it a little more aggressive looking? Where is the best on-line part & access. shop?
Thanks
Yafei

just to let you know the engine light was on all the time on the rsx because the car was not pdi'd (pre dealer inspection)....nothing was wrong with the motor its just a lazy dealer!!!
Congratulations on your CL and welcome to the board. You have made a wise choice. For suspension, there springs (Eibach, H&R, Comptech, Neuspeed), sway bars (Comptech, Eibach), shocks (konis). Tires are a good upgrade too. If you do a search there is much information on modifying your car. Enjoy your car.
Welcome to the board!
Once you decide what you'd like to purchase, I'd recommend www.autocarparts.com. They have a great selection of parts/accessories available for the CL.
Good luck!
